1MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT – 2019 GREAT SEYMOUR SHOW OFF
After celebrating our 160th anniversary last year the Seymour Agricultural & Pastoral
Society invites your participation in our exciting 2019 Show being held on the
evening of Friday 4 October and all day on Saturday 5 October.
We have classes for Horses of all descriptions including Pony Club, there are Beef
Cattle and Dairy Cattle classes and special classes for handlers, there are Alpaca
classes and wool classes, there is a Championship Dog Show with all breeds, there
are Poultry classes and there is an egg competition.
Baking classes are popular as well as Preserves, Produce, Plants and Flowers and
these include junior classes. There are Needlework and Craft classes including
patchwork, knitting and crochet and we offer Art, Photography, Lego classes and a
Paper Plane competition.
Rural and Junior Ambassador’s are chosen from nominees and there are special
Tiny Tots opportunities.
There will be a great deal of entertainment for all ages with Bands, Sideshows, food
and fireworks on the Friday night followed by Wood chopping, Yard Dogs Trials,
Animal Nursery, Chainsaw Sculpting, Australian Animals, Whip Cracking, Dog High
Jump and Sheep Shearing demonstrations.
Thank you to our sponsors for their assistance and support and to our Judges and
Stewards for their valuable time and to our Council and Life Members for all their
hard work. Special thanks to all our exhibitors and competitors and to the many
people who visit the Show each year.
I hope you get involved in some way and that it is enjoyable and rewarding.

*Conducted under current Equestrian Victoria Show Horse Rules, VAS Ltd & various Breed Society
regulations as amended.
*To take advantage of the discounted entries, & membership applications and membership fees must be
received by Secretary no later than Friday 27th September 2019
*Competitors compete at own risk (Recommended that each entrant be self-insured)
*Competitors are reminded that the use of tranquillizers, stimulants, or any drugs capable of affecting the
performance or behavior of animals is forbidden. Random swabbing may take place under VAS Ltd and
Equestrian Victoria Rules
*Stallions & colts are ineligible in all ridden classes except breeds. Any Stallion or colt present on the
showgrounds must have a bit in its mouth, or chain controlling halter
*Judge’s decision is final.
*All riders must wear current Australian standard approved helmets (AS/NZS 3838, EN1384, ASTN F1163)
and restraining harness must be secured and fastened at all times.
*In classes where a rider’s age is specified under 18, short boots must be worn.
*All horses & ponies in height classes must have current height certificate. Measuring stand will be open
from 7.45 am to 9 am on show day.
*FIRST SEASON/NEWCOMER classes are open to those exhibits eligible to compete in the same classes at
VAS Ltd 2019 and Barastoc 2020.
*All horses entered in specific breed classes must have current registration papers & exhibitors must
produce them upon request & owners must be current financial members of relevant breed society.
*In Rings 1–3 competitors who win an Open or Show Hunter Championship should not enter the equivalent
classes in another ring.
*Show Hunter classes - horses must have plain brow bands, no multi coloured hair ribbons, no flowers/
decoration on lapels & junior riders should not wear top boots
*Horses are not to be tied to any fixtures in the Park such as BBQ areas, fences etc
*All rings will be on the main arena or as specified.
*Entry to Kings Park will be via the Tallarook Street Gate 1, please look for traffic signs to gain entry.
*Entry Fees: (Rings 1-6 only)
*$5 PER CLASS without membership except Pony Club and Topsy, see Ring 7.
*50% DISCOUNTED ENTRY TICKET ($2.50 per class) WITH PURCHASE OF MEMBERSHIP TICKET ($35.00)

REGULATIONS: -
*The competition is a test of the dogs jumping ability and open to all dogs regardless of height.
*The dog is permitted to jump onto or over the jump.
*All dogs not competing must be on a lead with the handler in the marshaling area behind the competition
arena. The competition area should be 15 m long by 8 m wide.
*Only one dog may be loose in the competition area at any one time.
*Every dog must compete at every height.
*There must be a handler at the top and bottom of the jump to act as catchers if necessary. The dog’s owner
must supply extra handler.
*Each dog is allowed three attempts at each height if necessary.
*In the event of a ‘jump off’, the dogs will be allowed only one attempt at each height and the first failure
will be deemed to have lost the ‘jump off’. If a ‘jump off’ is required it will be held immediately to gain a final
result prior to the next class commencing.
*A dog may compete on a loose lead or must be released a a minimum of 3 m from the jump.
*ANY MISHANDLING OR MISUSE OF A DOG will incur IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION.
*If, in the opinion of the stewards, a dog is unsafe to other competitors or the general public, it will be
withdrawn from the competition.
*Dogs must be measured at the shoulder blade in line with the front leg vertically.
*Dogs must jump until one is decided.
*Judge’s decision is final.

*All Exhibits are to be the bona-fide property of the Exhibitor.
*All Eggs-smooth, clean, free of stains and cracks, not misshaped or thin, all one size. One egg shall be
tested for freshness when judged.
*Although the greatest care will be taken, the Seymour Agriculture and Pastoral Society will not be responsible
for any mistakes, accidents, loss, injury or danger from any cause what so ever, to Exhibits (Birds).
*Junior Exhibitors must be under the age of 16 years on the day of the show and must pen their own birds.
*No one is permitted to handle or interfere with the Exhibits after they have been penned, except for the
appointed judges & the Show Manager.
*Any person causing annoyances by comments on the judges decisions or involved in insulting or unseemly behaviors
shall be liable to expulsion from the show and have their exhibits and/ or awards disqualified. The judges decision is final.
*The committee reserves the right to re-allocate judges.
*Pen numbers will be issued on arrival by the show manager.
*All bird classes must exhibit birds that are showing plumage according to the Australian Poultry Standard on
the day of the show. No baby chickens or ducklings.
*If more than 4 Birds of a Breed & Colour - a Class will be opened for them.

Entry tickets must be securely attached
Entries to be on white paper plates, without doilies
Not to be iced or cream filled unless specified
All cakes to be baked in a 20 cm round tin
Plain round cookie cutter to be used for scones
No cake cooler marks on cakes
Cakes must not be cut before judging
Slices cut to 2.5 cm x 5 cm pieces

V.A.S. COMPETITION:
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
1. An exhibitor having won at a show will be required to bake another cake for entry in the Group final (April
2020) the winner will be then required to bake a further cake for the State final (TBA)
2. Exhibitors are to follow the recipes and specifications listed
3. An exhibitor having won at show/field day level is not eligible to enter any other show/field day until after
the group judging, when, if not the winning entry can compete further.
4. An exhibitor is only eligible to represent one group in the state final
5. Each cake entered must be the bona fide work of the exhibitor
6. If for any reason a winner is unable to complete at group or state final level then the second place getter is
eligible to compete.
