MARCH 2021
A Message from the Exalted Ruler
CALANDER OF EVENTS
March 2021 Thank You All Very Much for This Rewarding 2020-2021 Elk
Year -- You Did It!!!
1 - Lodge meeting 7 PM
3 - Bingo 6:30 PM It’s hard to believe that this is my final letter to you. Just as when I
4 - Darts 7 PM was your ER in 2018-2019, this Lodge Year from April 1, 2020
Queen of Hearts 7:45 PM through March 31, 2021 has passed by extremely fast. Many thanks

In short, it looked to be a tremendously busy and rewarding year!
April 2021 COVID-19. Yet, before we could even be installed as new officers, our Lodge closed after our
March 16th Lodge meeting. The coronavirus pandemic, or COVID-19, had invaded our country

8 - Darts 7 PM You Did It! You remained steadfast in your solemn and binding obligation as Elks! In so
doing, you made us stronger! Thank you so much for:

12 - PER Meeting 7 PM • Staunchly following Lodge health and safety guidelines,
Ladies Aux meeting 7 pm
• Paying your own dues and graciously helping our delinquent members;
14 - Bingo 6:30 PM
15 - Darts 7 PM • Sponsoring new members and constantly seeking other interested persons;
Queen of Hearts 7:45 PM • Upholding our Elks pledges to remember our members who have passed, veterans, and all

• Volunteering as officers, trustees, PER mentors and coaches, and committee chairs
22- Darts 7 PM and members to conduct and join in all Elk fundraisers and activities.
Queen of Hearts 7:45 PM
As COVID forced cancellation of event after event, I was grateful that I was the ER rather than

someone who has not yet experienced the spectacle and pageantry of Elkdom. I have many fond
29 - Darts 7 PM
Queen of Hearts 7:45 PM memories of representing you in 2018-2019 at galas and festivities in San Antonio, Buffalo, and
elsewhere.
Thank You, All! However, after witnessing your strength and resilience during this 2020-2021
COVID year of chaos and uncertainty, I can only thank you again for all that you did and all you
continue to do. It has been a true honor and privilege to serve as your ER in what may have been
our most challenging year.
I look forward to joining you in helping incoming ER Joe Benoit and all the officers as we continue
to make our Lodge the best it can be.
You did it! We did survive and we will again thrive! May God bless you all!Page 2 The Voice of 1500

ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS!!!!
The above members are delinquent in paying their 2020-2021 dues. Each has their
own reason. Each will be dropped from our membership roles after the meeting to be
held on March 21, 2021 and will no longer be members of the Benevolent Protective
Order of Elks. The lodge has sent reminders and have tried multiple ways of
contacting them. Sometimes our records may no longer be accurate, and they may
have not received any of our reminders. Now, we are hoping you can help. If you
know any of the members listed above, please ask them to contact the lodge. If there
is a problem that needs to be corrected, then we can work together. Just have them
contact us at 518-273-8016 and leave a message with their phone number or they can
email the lodge at elks1500@nycap.rr.com .Page 4 The Voice of 1500
ATTENTION MEMBERS!
Have you ever considered being an Officer of the Lodge?
Watervliet Lodge is in need of new Officers to help lead us through Next year and the years to come. We need
new Officers with fresh ideas. New Officers that are ready to take over the rains of authority and lead this
Lodge into the future with new and fresh ideas. We have been depending on the past Exalted Rulers for far
too long to keep this Lodge moving forward in the same old, same old way.
We need new Officers, fresh ideas, and now is the time to do it. Step up and become an officer with me. I will
be Exalted Ruler next year. I was Exalted Ruler 31 years ago. I will be there to help you. The Past Exalted Rulers
are suppose to be an advisory organization, we are not meant to run the Lodge. This is your Lodge, step up and
help it to be the best lodge that it can be. Contact me with any questions you may have. I can be reached by e-
mail at benoitjo4457@yahoo.com or by text at (518) 577-2268.

Looking for help and ideas!
With the onset of COVID 19, our Lodge has been unable to hold fund raising events. We are looking for people
who may be able to do a fundraiser-with help from the Past ER’s and other members.
Ideas include:
• A takeout breakfast- breakfast sandwich or pancakes and eggs etc.
• A takeout dinner -meatloaf, spaghetti, etc.
• Raffles
Anything else you can think of. We need people to chair the event and cook or ask someone who can cook for
a large number.
These monies will help us to maintain our Lodge and continue to remain open and solvent.
Please consider contacting our ER or past exalted rulers or myself with ideas.
I look forward to hearing from you.
