With a graduate employment rate that is consistently higher
than the national average, University of Limerick’s graduates
find employment in all sectors of the economy. Over 97%
of University of Limerick graduates successfully gained
employment within six months of graduation or chose to
continue with further studies.

preparation for graduation and beyond. Resources include Change

Student Work Permits and Graduate Employment
Non-EU students are permitted to work part-time up to 20 hours per week during
the academic semester. During holiday periods (summer and Christmas breaks)
students can work a full 40-hour week. Students graduating with a level-8 Honours
Undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree can apply for a 12-month graduate visa once final
results are received. For students graduating with a minimum of level-9 Master’s
Degree, the period of employment is up to 24 months once final results are received.
Graduates are eligible to work for up to 40 hours per week.

Language Centre ‘Preparation for University’ Programme
The University of Limerick Language Centre offers a variety of courses aimed at making sure
that each student reaches their language goals.
The Preparation for University programme caters for the language needs of students who
intend to study for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at University of Limerick. It is
designed for students who have reached the academic entry requirements for their chosen
degree but need to improve their English in order to meet the English language entry
requirements. It is suitable for applicants who have received a conditional offer from
University of Limerick.
Students who achieve a final passing grade will have met the English language requirements
for entry to the majority of programmes at University of Limerick (equivalent IELTS 6.5). It will
not be necessary for such students to take an external English language test at the end of the
