Whalley Abbey is a former Cistercian Monastery, founded in the 13th Century.
Following the dissolution of the monasteries the site passed into private hands and is
now the Conference and Retreat Centre of the Anglican Diocese of Blackburn.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Please note that you will be required to sign a copy of these terms and conditions
and return it, together with your deposit, in order to secure your booking
Deposits
The appropriate deposit must be returned with the completed booking form within
21 days of the booking being made or immediately if the event is due to take place
within 28 days. We regret that we are unable to confirm your booking until the
deposit has been received.
Please note that the information contained on the booking form will form the basis of
the minimum charge in the event of cancellation.
A non-refundable deposit of £750 is required to secure the booking. This sum will
be deducted from the final invoice
Four weeks before the event an additional payment of £1,000 is required
Final numbers are due 14 days before the event. This figure will form the basis of
the estimated final invoice. Payment of this invoice is due 10 days before the event
Any additional balance must be paid prior to departure
Cancellations
Time to Event Charge, including VAT at the prevailing rate
Over 6 months Initial deposit
6 months to 3 months 50% of the estimated final invoice
3 months to 1 month 75% of the estimated final invoice
Less than 1 month 100% of the estimated final invoiceGeneral Conditions The hirer is responsible for the behaviour of all guests attending an event and the management of Whalley Abbey reserves the right to make a charge for any loss or damage caused. If the behaviour of any guests(s) becomes uncontrolled the Duty Manager has the right to terminate the event. Guests are not allowed to consume alcohol brought into the premises without prior agreement. A corkage charge will apply. Children must be supervised at all times. The hirer will be charged for any damage, accidental or otherwise, made to Whalley Abbey property. Please note that Whalley Abbey operates a strict non-smoking policy and a charge of £100 plus VAT will be made to any guest who smokes in the house. This is to cover the costs of specialist cleaning of carpets, curtains, etc. Neither Blackburn Diocesan Board of Finance Limited nor its staff accept responsibility for loss or damage to any vehicle or property belonging to any person or organisation using Whalley Abbey or its associated buildings.
