compares with Nice. Located on the stunning French Riviera, the city is just a
quick ride away from the glitz and glam of Monaco. It’s time to get a taste of
the Cote d’Azur!
You’ll arrive by plane at the Nice airport, which is fairly close to the city
center. Find directions to your hostel on the next page.

After a bus ride to the train station,
your hostel is a quick 3-minute walk
away.

Look for the popular bus line 99.
It runs every 30 min, from 8am to
21am.
It runs directly to the main train
station in Nice.
Buy a ticket for 6 euros (we’ll refund
this price), and take the quick ride
to the train station.
The hostel is at 2 minutes’ walk
form there on the street called Rue
Paganini.

W ith some of the richest culture and most scenic views along all of the
Mediterranean, the French Riviera shouldn’t be taken lightly. There’s
a wide range of activities and sights to experience. Below, we’ll discuss these
along with other spots you shouldn’t miss.
GETTING TO MONACO
Monaco is well-connected by train and by
bus, so you shouldn’t have major issues
visiting the small city-state.
We recommend taking the bus on the way
there, as the ride from Nice to Monaco on
the #100 (Monaco/Menton) is one of the
most stunningly beautiful bus rides in the
world.
You can easily take the train back from
Monaco’s station--which is built into the
side of a cliff. We recommend spending
about half a day in total to walk through the
wealthy streets of the city. If you decide to It’s a good idea to visit the old town
return by bus, the last one leaves at 8:30 around the sunset--Monaco at night
PM. is very pretty. By the sea, you can also
find the Oceanarium--if you wish to visit
it, make sure you arrive at least 1 hour
before closing.
Make sure you don’t miss stopping by
the Monte Carlo casino, where you will
see Ferraris and Lamborghinis parked
outside.
You can also walk the path of the famous
Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, while
gazing out at the billion dollar yachts in
Monaco’s harbor.

MUST-SEES IN NICE
Promenade des Anglais
The most famous stretch of seafront in
Nice--if not France--is this vast paved
promenade, which gets its name from
the English expat patrons who paid for it
in 1822. It runs for the whole 4km sweep
of the Baie des Anges with a dedicated
lane for cyclists and skaters. You can find
restaurants, bars, ice-cream stalls and
more on it’s path running along the rocky
Nice beach.
Musée Matisse
This is a municipal museum devoted to
the work of French painter Henri Matisse.
It gathers one of the world’s largest
collections of his works, tracing his artistic
beginnings and his evolution through his
last works.
Castle of Nice
The Castle of Nice was a citadel used for
military purposes. Built at the top of a hill,
it stood overlooking the bay of Nice from
the 11th century to the 18th century.
