(Bachelor’s degree).
Major – area of academic emphasis selected in an
Honours or General Program.
Minor – cluster of courses, outside of major courses.
Honours – More demanding in content and number of
required courses than General program.

Graduate – post graduate student in a masters or
doctorate degree program.

➢Plan for the best-case scenario, be prepared for a worst case
scenario

What are your post-secondary plans?
PLEASE NOTE: You will only receive this PIN Letter and the Universities will only get
access to your marks if you have given us permission to share your information.
How would you have done that?
1) When registering on School Cash Online, the box was clicked?
2) If it wasn’t clicked and we took note of that, you would have received a form from
   Guidance, and you are responsible for returning that form.
Additional Note: if you plan to apply to both University and College, there is a separate
box for College (OCAS) that will need to be checked off.

MORE IN REGARDS TO THE APPLICATION PROCESS
➢The application process will be completed
online at (www.ouac.on.ca/ouac-101/)
➢Follow the step by step instructions as provided
in your PIN Code letter. (Note: Pin code letters are picked
up by each individual student from Guidance once they are in.)
➢OUAC has developed online video tutorials that
describe how to apply and amend your
application and respond to offers of admission
online.
➢Visit www.ouac.on.ca/ugrad-tutorials/
What you need to apply…
➢Your PIN is generated by OUAC and will not arrive at the
school until November or December.
Listen for announcements and check Twitter by following
@doyleguidance so that you know when your letter is here.
(Note: you will initial when you pick up your letter so only
YOU can pick it up.)

➢You will need your school number, student number, PIN
(personal identification number) and email address to apply.

➢Deadline is Wed. Jan. 15th, 2020 to submit completed
online applications to OUAC.
OUAC GRADES COLLECTION PERIODS
✓ November 7, 2019: OUAC will receive all
final grade 11 marks, final grade 12 marks and
current year course information.

✓February 13, 2020: Final grades for Semester
1 will be sent to OUAC.

✓April 23, 2020: OUAC will receive Mid-term
grades for Semester 2.

✓July 13, 2020: Final grades for Semester 2 will
be sent.
FEES:
➢$150 payable to OUAC is required for the application to be
processed. This will allow for the choice of 3 universities
and/or programs.
➢Some universities will allow you to choose up to 3 programs
at their university, others may not. Do your research!!
➢Choices beyond the initial 3 will cost $50 per choice.
➢NEW: Changes made to your program may cost $50 per
change.

➢Fees are non-refundable.
➢Instructions for paying are available at
www.ouac.on.ca/ouac-101/.
SCHEDULE OF DATES
➢AGAIN: January 15, 2020 –application deadline to
OUAC.
➢February4, 2020– recommended last date for students
to submit all information to OUAC.
➢Changes will be accepted and processed by the OUAC at any
 time - incomplete applications will delay processing.

➢It is the student’s responsibility to make
changes/amendments to their application and check
their courses and grades for accuracy.
➢Be sure to make Guidance aware of night school
courses or e-learning courses you are taking.
May 27, 2020- latest date by which all secondary
school applicants shall expect a response from an
Ontario university.

June 1, 2020- earliest date by which Ontario
universities may require a response to an offer of
admission and give a financial commitment.

Full disclosure notice: Students who withdraw from a class
5 school days after the issuance of the mid-term report
card will have that mark permanently recorded on their
transcript.
SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION REQUESTS
If a school requests additional information, invites
you to attend an information session, fill in
response forms, complete essays, prepare a
portfolio…you must comply. Failure to do so will
result in an incomplete application and will
jeopardize your chances of obtaining admission
to the school of your choice.
AIF – WHAT IS THIS?
➢Admission information forms can have
different names, ie. WLU – ABS
(Applicant Background Summary).
➢These are supplemental information forms
that compliment your application.
➢It is your responsibility to seek them out. If
the schools you are applying to have them,
search for them on their website. They
won’t always send them to you!

           Ontario Universities Fair (OUF)
➢ Meet faculty from Ontario’s 21 universities.
➢ September 27-29 Metro Toronto Convention Centre, 10-5pm daily
➢ www.ouf.ca (register online with your name and email address for
  an OUF passport, and a fast and easy way to share your contact
  info. With universities you’re interested in.)
APPLICATIONS FOR OUT OF PROVINCE
➢Students must do their research!
➢Students apply directly to the
  universities (online) and send transcripts.
➢Fees and due dates will vary with
  each university (some are quite early).
➢You need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma to
apply (OSSD).
➢Application requirements will vary with each
university and department in some cases.

There are 11 out of province institutions that OUAC assists in collecting academic
data for students who have applied through OUAC. If you apply to any of
these schools, provide your OUAC number to them to have marks transmitted
electronically.

➢There are over 3000 American Colleges – it is
 very important to do your research.

➢Generally you are required to write SAT’s
 and/or ACT’s (grade 11 is ideal or fall Grade
 12 at the latest).

OUT OF COUNTRY INFORMATION
➢Thinking about studying, travelling, working or
