                                     housing estate?

HOUSING ESTATES HAVE ENJOYED A MAJOR INCREASE IN POPULARITY IN RECENT YEARS.
LOOKING AT SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF LIVING ON A HOUSING ESTATE, IT IS EASY TO
UNDERSTAND WHY THESE DEVELOPMENT ARE BECOMING MORE SOUGHT AFTER.

PICTURE THE SCENE: As you approach your home after in front of a screen. And since we can’t all quit our jobs
a long and hard day at the office, you’re greeted by trees or ditch the computer, we can try spending more time
and greenery, open spaces, kids riding their bikes in the outdoors and engage in light physical activities. Having a
streets, families pushing a pram, people walking their dog, safe and beautiful space to do this near your home could be
people stopping to chat to each other. This idyllic scene is just the motivation you need, and this is something many
not your typical South African neighbourhood but you could housing estates offer.
come close to a version of this if you choose to live on an
    estate. HIGHER PROPERTY VALUES
Community and lifestyles benefits are great but it is
SENSE OF THE COMMUNITY important that this is reflected in the value of the property.
Housing estates offer a great platform for building a The good news is that this is mostly true for homes in
community. Residents and tenants in estates tend to feel property estates.
that they belong to something private and exclusive and,
as such, are often motivated to nurture and protect that. COST SHARING
Striving for the common good is a great driver of community. There are many items some property owners might be
More than that, people have organised themselves into unable to afford individually, but in pooling resources and
communities since the dawn of time. Today, with the pace opting for communal living they then become accessible
of life at an all-time high, this need for community is even to them. Estate living has the advantage of offering extra
more accentuated and building communities where we live resources for all residents living in the community.
is one of the easier ways to address this need.
Communal living and pooled resources help in making
GREEN, OPEN SPACES lifestyle more affordable for some residents. For example,
We live in a time where most professionally engaged having access to large open spaces is a great bonus if you
people spend the bulk of their working day indoors and cannot afford and do not have the required space
