Consolidation Week
Why do we have an assessment week?
To help prepare your child for exams and
assessments.
To teach them different ways to revise.
To help them plan their time.
To give strategies to deal and cope with being
nervous, stressed and anxious.
When does it start and finish?
This week and your child’s assessments will be
finished on Friday 20th October.Y8 Assessment &
Consolidation Week
When will my child’s assessments be?
There is a time table in your child’s packs.
Where does my child go for their
assessments?
All assessments are in the Hall, apart from Art
and ICT these will be in lesson time when they
don’t have another assessment.
There is no assessment for PE
For assessments during P1 and P2 your child
must go straight to the hall.
A seating plan will be on the exam board
outside the hall.Revision and Consolidation
Week…
During this first week your child will be taught
strategies on how to revise by all their teachers.
They will have time to practice these and create
revision resources.
During form time they will create a revision timetable
which will help you plan their time at home so that
they feel prepared for the assessments.
Your child will be taught about the following:
Exam writing techniques
Research & analysis
Understanding Exam Commands
Memory techniquesThe revision
booklet!!!

Tracking & Assessment
• All students have an end of Y11 School Expected target
and Star Performer target grade for each subject.
• This is what they will be tracked against.
• Assessment criteria has been written in all subjects to
reflect what you should be doing in each year to achieve
your target grade.
• Teacher will assess if the students is:
– Working above expected progress (above target)
– Working at expected progress (on target_
– Working below expected progress (1 grade below target)
– Working well below expected progress (2 or more grades below
target)
• Tracking data and Attitude to learning grades will be
collected 4 times throughout the school year.Academic
Mentoring
• All students will have a mentor, this will predominantly be their
form tutor. Some students may have a member of the Pastoral
team, Progress Leader or member of SLT as their mentor
depending on their individual needs.
• The mentor will be the regular point of contact for the student
and the parent/carers when discussing all aspects of progress.
• Academic Mentoring afternoons will take place 3 times
throughout the academic year, running from 1:00-6:30pm.
• Academic Mentors will write a summary statement on the
students progress report based on the feedback from staff and
from their discussions with the students.
• These progress reports will be given out and discussed with
parents/carers and students during a 15 minute meeting.
• The academic mentor will set 3 targets for the next round of
tracking through discussion with parents/carers and students.Subject
Evenings
• There will be two further opportunities for
parents/carers to come into school to discuss their
child's progress, these are called subject evenings.
• These are approx. 1 ½ weeks after the academic
mentoring afternoons.
• These evenings will allow parents/carers/teachers
to request 1-1 meetings if they have specific
concerns in individual subjects.
