WELCOME MESSAGE The FHNO Chennai team takes great pleasure in welcoming you to the “Smart City” of India, Chennai, to indulge in the academic extravaganza and more, that is going to be the FHNO 2019 conference. The FHNO Annual Meetings have set the benchmark for Head and Neck Oncology conferences world-wide. In keeping with tradition, the three days of the conference will be detailed in such a way, so as to deliver to you, all you would like to know, and more, in the management of Head and Neck Cancers by experts from all parts of the world. The “Who's Who” of Head and Neck Oncology at both the national and international level, will be addressing you directly at the scientific sessions and key note lectures planned as part of this prestigious conference. The sessions will cover all aspects of Head and Neck Oncology starting from basic sciences to the latest updates on cutting-edge technology and research outcomes. The FHNO 2019 conference will benefit all doctors encountering head and neck cancer patients as part of their practice, including Head and Neck Oncologists, Otorhinolaryngologists, Maxillo-facial surgeons, Surgical Oncologists, Radiation and Medical Oncologists who's areas of interest include head and neck oncology and professionals from the allied specialties. The FHNO 2019 Annual Meeting is to be conducted from 10th – 13th October 2019 at the Leela Palace, Chennai. The pre-conference workshops will be held on 10th October (details to follow soon) and the actual conference will be on the 11th, 12th and 13th of October 2019. Chennai as a city, strikes a fine blend of traditional and modern values, by housing both, places of rich heritage and history, as well as making room for development in all fronts and all fields ranging from health care to real estate. Chennai, in addition to its world-famous beaches, is also known for its hospitality, and willingness to accommodate and embrace as its own, anyone from any background and from any corner of the world. This makes the city, one among the “hottest” tourist destinations in India. CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE The Foundation for Head and Neck Oncology (FHNO) is a multi-specialty national society dedicated to the development and progress in the management of head and neck cancers in India. The FHNO was formed in 2001 with the intention to oversee the standards of care, and promote education and research in this specialty by offering Fellowship and training opportunities to interested doctors. The members of this council belong to the various sub-specialities in this field including Otolaryngology & Head-Neck Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Maxillo-facial surgery, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Reconstructive Surgery, speech and swallowing therapy etc. The Annual conference of FHNO is held every year and it`s the most sought after academic event for Head and Neck Oncologists in the country. The attendee base is huge, reflecting the numerous sub-specialities involved in the management of cancers of the head and neck region. The sessions reflect the entire spectrum of the areas of interest of the FHNO, starting right from screening and primary prevention of cancer to the most recent advances in its management including cutting edge technology that aides in safe surgical treatment along with emphasis on post- treatment rehabilitation that aims to restore patient’s quality of life to the highest extent possible. This year FHNO national conference is held along with IFNHNOS (International Federation of Head &Neck Oncologic Society) in Chennai. Chapter of the FHNO is formed of several regional institutes of national and international acclaim. Chennai is a city of a rich cultural heritage. The shoreline of the city along with its many beaches are world famous tourist attractions. The city has multiple monuments and temples of historic significance. Chennai is also famous for its unique south Indian cuisine and filter coffee. ABSTRACT GUIDELINES
Last date for Abstract Submission: August 10th, 2019
Ÿ Submissions are invited for:
1. Poster/ Podium presentation, and
2. Video Presentation
Ÿ Abstract submissions are available online only. Abstracts sent by email, fax or post will not be considered.
Ÿ Abstract will have to be submitted under one of the following themes:
1. Surgical oncology
2. Medical oncology
3. Radiation oncology
4. Diagnostics
5. Basic/ Translational Research
6. Quality of Life
Ÿ Abstracts must contain original material, preferably not published or presented at any other meeting prior to the
FHNO 2019 Chennai; if the work has been earlier presented/published this needs to be disclosed.
Ÿ Only abstracts in English will be accepted.
Ÿ All abstracts (for poster or oral presentation) will have to be submitted in the same prescribed format.
Ÿ Abstract should not contain any tables. No Images, graphs or illustrations are allowed in the abstract.
Ÿ The presenting author needs to be clearly identified at time of submission.
Ÿ The names and affiliations of all authors must be stated.
Ÿ The abstract text should be restricted up to 250 words. Your abstract will be automatically curtailed beyond this
limit.
Ÿ Abstract should be submitted as a structured abstract under the following headings: Title, Authors, Background
/Purpose, Methods, Results, Discussion & Conclusion. Word limit applies to the Background /Purpose, Methods,
Results, Discussion & Conclusion only.
Ÿ Only abstracts that are complete and in accordance with headings provided will be considered for review.
Abstract Processing
Ÿ It is mandatory for presenting authors to register for the conference.
Ÿ All abstract submissions may be accepted for POSTER presentation. Few selected submissions shall be upgraded for
Podium Presentation.
Ÿ Abstracts shall be published in an abstract CD / Conference Book/ Journal of Head-Neck Physicians and Surgeons.
Submissions shall be screened by the Scientific Committee prior to acceptance.
Ÿ Selected submissions shall be upgraded for podium presentation. Please indicate your acceptance for oral/ podium
presentation by marking the relevant box in the submission process.
Ÿ Submissions shall be judged by a panel. The best two papers in category of Basic and Clinical Sciences will be
awarded.
Ÿ Decisions of the scientific committee with regard to acceptance and upgradation to podium presentation shall be
conveyed by email.
ABSTRACT GUIDELINES
Guidelines for Video Presentation Submission
Ÿ Please submit your video presentation as a link to fhno2019chennai@gmail.com
Ÿ It is mandatory for presenting authors to register for the conference.
Ÿ Videos should be in AVI or MP4 or WMV formats only. The recommended minimum resolution is 800x600; higher
resolutions are encouraged.
Ÿ Duration of video should not exceed 8 minutes.
Ÿ Video Submissions may be submitted under the following themes: Surgical procedures, Radiotherapy procedures,
Evaluation techniques, Chemotherapy Procedures, Innovative Techniques, or other Head and Neck Oncology
related videos.
Ÿ Video Presentation should be based on the original work of the presenting authors.
Ÿ It is recommended that the videos be self-explanatory with an audio commentary in the background, and also
preferably subtitles to the audio.
Ÿ The Video should open with a title and listing of authors. It is recommended that a short title and operating surgeon/
institution be noted on the bottom of the video throughout its length, to ensure continuity.
Ÿ All Video Presentations will be played sequentially on A-V screens in designated areas through the duration of the
conference. It is not mandatory for the authors to be present at the designated Video Presentation area; and there
shall be no simultaneous podium presentation.
Ÿ Selected submissions shall be upgraded for podium presentation. Please indicate your acceptance for podium
presentation by marking the relevant box in the submission process
Ÿ Videos shall be evaluated by a screening committee before acceptance.
Ÿ Decisions of the scientific committee with regard to acceptance and upgradation to podium presentation shall be
conveyed by email..

Ÿ We are introducing an Award for the best publication by an Indian Author in any indexed journal.
