MISS TEEN RODEO IDAHO
Royally Promoting Our Western Way of Life

Who is Miss Teen Rodeo Idaho?
Miss Teen Rodeo Idaho symbolizes the youth of our state who wish to promote rodeo, and in
doing so promote the great western way of life. She is the ideal western type American girl and

                                     JUDGING GUIDELINES

Miss Teen Rodeo Idaho contestants are judged in four categories, all of which are equal:
horsemanship, personality and appearance, and knowledge & presentation. Scores from a
contestant’s speech, photogenic quality, interview(s), extemporaneous questions,
horsemanship/rodeo knowledge questions, introductions, fashion show presentation, media
interview, etc., will be added within those categories. The Miss Teen Rodeo Idaho pageant scoring
process will emulate the Miss Rodeo America Pageant format, with necessary changes approved to
reflect the Miss Teen Rodeo Idaho judged events. Please see Appendix C for Contestant’s Composite
Score Sheet (Scoring Breakdown) and Scoring Criteria. All judges will judge all categories of the
pageant and all judges’ scores will be used. Judging will take precedence over all pageant activities
and schedules.

3/1/16 MTRI Pageant Rule Book Page 9
1. M.R.I., Inc. will provide for three to five judges, depending upon the number of contestants.
2. Judges are selected for their expertise in all fields of the competition.
3. Judges will judge all categories of the pageant.
4. All judges’ scores will be used.
5. A Head Judge will be chosen.
6. Judges may, at their discretion, deduct points if they see trainers coaching contestants from the
side during the Horsemanship or any part of competition, or if they witness unsportsmanlike
      conduct at any time.
7. After each event, judges will hand their finished score sheets to the Head Judge, who will place
the score sheet in a manila envelope. The Head Judge will seal the envelope and sign his/her
name across the flap. The Head Judge is responsible for the Integrity of the score sheets
between the times the events end until that time the envelope can be delivered to a CPA or
      auditing firm.
8. The score sheets will be collected and sealed at the conclusion of each judged event and the
sealed envelopes will be delivered on a daily basis by, a three-person committee; one being
M.R.I., Inc. board member, the Designated Head Judge and one designated contestant parent to
the auditing individual or firm who compiles, in private, the scores. MRI, Inc. may elect to make
use of hotel safes and/or Courier Services for delivering scoresheets to the accountant.
9. When judging in all divisions has been completed, the auditors will determine which
contestants have scored the highest in each category and in the overall scores. The highest
overall score will be M.T.R.I.; second highest will be the first runner-up.
10. Scoring ties in Appearance, Personality, Horsemanship, Speech and Photogenics will be broken
by referring back to the score of the Head Judge. That score will break the tie. If a tie still
remains, the score of the next judge will be used, and so on until the tie is broken.
11. A tie score for M.T.R.I. (and first runner-up) will be broken by the Horsemanship scores. The
contestant with the highest score in Horsemanship will receive the higher ranking.
12. The highest cumulative total of appearance scores in all judged events will win the Appearance
Category; the highest cumulative total of personality scores in all judged events will win the
Personality Category; the highest cumulative total of horsemanship scores in all judged events
will win the Horsemanship Category. Other specific awardees will be identified as those having
the highest score in that area.
13. All decisions made by the Judges, M.R.I., Inc. Board of Directors and/or the M.R.I. Grievance
      committee are final.

APPENDIX E
                                       Social Media Etiquette

Miss Teen Rodeo Idaho is an ambassador for professional rodeo and a role model for our western
heritage and values. The young women involved with Miss Teen Rodeo Idaho model goodwill,
positive character and the highest level of integrity. MTRI's involvement with social media must
always reflect these qualities. While social media can be a marvelous tool, it can also quickly ruin the
reputation of both an individual and a rodeo royalty program. The following guideline is intended to
assist MRI in utilizing social media to its full potential to connect with family, friends, rodeo fans,
sponsors, and all her supporters.

1. The MTRI Facebook page is managed by the MRII Marketing Director. The current MTRI may
tag the Miss Rodeo Idaho, Inc. page in her posts pertaining to her title. These posts will then appear
   on the MRI timeline.

2. In ALL posts (including personal posts and MTRI tagged posts) MTRI will represent goodwill,
positive character, and integrity. Do not post negative comments (this includes sarcasm).

3. In ALL posted pictures (personal and MTRI tagged; in crown and banner and not) MRI will be
dressed modestly. Skirts, dresses, shorts will be no higher than 3 inches above the knee. Refrain
from low cut tops and backs.

4. Post frequently, but not excessively. A good rule of thumb is no more than 3 posts a day.
However, if there is nothing to post about, then don't post--don't sacrifice quality for quantity.
Great things to post about: positive experiences at rodeos and events, appreciation for sponsors,
utilizing sponsors' merchandise/services, promoting local rodeos and community events, etc.

5. Absolutely no photos or posts with alcohol.

6. Be safe. Giving out too much personal information can open you up to unwanted advertisement at
best and dangerous stalkers at worst. If you feel uncomfortable about a situation that involves the
Miss Rodeo Idaho, Inc. page, report it to the Marketing Director. Personal safety comes first. Do not
feel obligated to accept any friends to your personal page that you do not have a personal
   relationship with.

7. Write professionally. Use proper grammar and spelling. Do not abbreviate words. Do not
excessively use exclamation marks and emoticons.

Remember: Any photos, text, or videos you release through social media can never be retrieved or
deleted. Though you may delete it, someone may have already downloaded it. When used properly,
social media is a wonderful way to promote your rodeo, your organization, and your pageant. But it is
also a reflection of those entities and yourself. So, ultimately, when in doubt....don't do it!
