PARENTS PACK 2018
Adventure Carrick children’s camps are suitable for young people who
just yearn for adventure. Our activity locations are time served, very ac-
cessible from our base in Girvan which means less time travelling and
more time being active outdoors. The scenery is equally spectacular. Our
children’s camps are designed to offer a variety of challenges to cater for
all abilities.
Ayrshire epitomises adventure; miles of majestic and dramatic coastlines, acres
of glens, flowing rivers and rounded hills which are both accessible and re-
nowned for their isolation and tranquillity. Our summer adventure camp will be
based in the heart of the Galloways at Balloch O Dee campsite, near the mar-
ket town of Newton Stewart. The 2 night, 3 day camp will offer young people
the opportunity to meet new friends, take on challenges head on and experi-
ence new activities which will create memories and talking points for a long
time post camp. We don’t underestimate the emotional needs of children living
away from home. Our aim is to make the camp a home from home, but within a
framework of activity and daily structure which allows everyone to enjoy the
experience of camp life.

FINANCE & BURSARY
CAMP FEE: £299
Thanks to funding received from William Grants Foundation, ACE are offering
a bursary towards the cost of this camp. A bursary award can be applied to
cover £249 of the total camps cost, therefore the outstanding balance would
be £50 per person. To apply for the bursary form, please email
hello@adventurecarrick.com.
CONDITIONS
Applications by bursary form must be completed by the young person.
Spaces and bursaries are limited to 12 per camp
Bursary is not guaranteed and will be decided by the ACE Manager
Applications must be received by Monday 9th July 12noon
Bursary awards are on a first come first served basis and applicants who reside within
a KA26 post code will be considered first.
Bursary awards decisions are irrespective of family background and income.
Open to 10 -14year olds.

BACS ONLINE to ACE account 7 days prior to camp commencing.
Cash or cheque made payable to Adventure Centre for Education

DETAILS
WHAT’S INCLUDED
Return transport from The Quay Zone, Girvan
2 nights accommodation in expedition style tents (Balloch O Dee
campsite. Based on 2 sharing. Includes roll mat.
Food package from dinner time on first day until lunchtime on departure
day. Includes a range of healthy fruit, snacks, juice, breakfast options,
water always available.

Camp fees and group area
All equipment for activities including expedition rucksack, walking boots,
waterproofs, wetsuits, Bouyancy aid, helmet, all technical equipment.

PROGRAMME
Monday - Preparation day
ACE stores will be open where any children booked on the camp can pop up to collect ruck-
sacks, kit and practice putting up tents and discuss any particulars regarding the camp.
Tuesday - Departure day
0930 pick up from The Quay Zone, Girvan
Arrive to stores and collect trailer and kit. Camp brief with instructors. Kit check.
Arrive Balloch O Dee around late morning to noon. Make camp.
Afternoon activity
Dinner preparation 5pm
Mealtime 5-7pm
Evening activity on site—campfire
Wednesday - activity day
0700 rise and breakfast

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR GUARDIANS:
EMERGENCY CONTACT
ACE/Adventure Carrick operate a remote working system where our instructor will not be contactable
during session times by anyone other than the ACE office.
If , in the event of a family emergency you need to reach your child please contact the ACE office on:
01465 710077 or via email/text/facebook message.
Our administrator will contact the instructor and relay information.
If there is a change of time for pick up/drop off again, please notify the office.
We do not advise children to carry mobiles but if they do so it is at the discretion of the parent/child.
Please do not panic if mobiles are out of reach as we will be self sufficient during the day and likely to be
out of signal.
Our instructors carry the emergency contact details for each child with them on activity therefore, please
ensure both guardians stated on the booking form are contactable throughout the day.
LATE BACK PROCEDURE
If we are running late for whatever reason, we will ask the children within the group to contact their
guardians or the instructors will send a message to notify of our ETA at the pick up points.
Please allow 30mins at the end of the day for overtime due to possible traffic delays.
LICENCING
Adventure Carrick is the commercial branching arm of Adventure Centre for Edu-
cation (ACE ) and it permitted to work with children under the age of 16yrs and
currently holds an AALS licence.
LUNCH ARRANGEMENTS
Packed lunches and drinks/snacks required for the first day of camp.
Participants will be encouraged to make their own lunch for the day ahead. Lunch will consist of sandwiches/
wraps/baguettes, 3 filling options, drinks, fruit and crisps/choco bar.
MEDICATION
All medication must be issued and carried with the child on trips. Please ensure medication is labelled.

Summer programme activities cannot run with less than 10 persons therefore Adventure Carrick reserves the right
to alter the date in order to fill places.
OVERNIGHT SUPERVISION/STRETCH ZONE
In accordance with child protection and safeguarding practices, ACE instructors will be available throughout the
night to supervise the group and support children who may experience nervousness living away from home. We
have hired an additional facility to cater for privacy and to use as a stretch area for children who become
stressed. Ace will ensure a female member of staff is present at all times.
The group will be allocated free time during camp to relax and enjoy each others company.
Animals are present on site therefore please state clearly on your medical consent form any objections or aller-
gies.
