Prepare yourself for a “King/Queen of the Mountains” challenge today as you take on three of the Alps’ most celebrated
passes. First up the lofty Col du Lautaret, which is sure to get your heart pounding before you climb to almost 8,600 feet
above sea level and summit the iconic Col du Galibier, just as the pros did over 100 years ago when this climb debuted in
the Tour. Challenging, awe inspiring, and utterly beautiful, this is one of French Alps greatest rides. If you have the legs, ride
onward to the Col du Télégraphe or alternatively ride back to the Col du Lautaret and enjoy a fast, beautiful descent
followed by a well-earned lunch on a sunny terrace surrounded by the majesty of the Alps. Throughout the day’s epic riding,
your guides will be there to support you as you meet today’s challenge with all the determination of a pro cyclist. Tonight,
you're free to explore the lively mountain ski town known as Les Deux Alpes. Grab a quick pizza at a local brewpub, indulge
in a hearty Raclette, or saddle up to some pasta. There's plenty of variety to be found tonight and your guides are more
than happy to help you choose.

5 DESCRIPTION:
After a hearty breakfast, today's ride begins with a descent down the valley to the base of the mythic Alpe d’Huez. The
morning mountain air will surely be the perfect temperature to ride up the legendary 21 switchbacks. Every switchback is
named after a winner of this climb in the Tour de France, each baiting you to ride to the next. With an average grade of 8%,
this lion of a climb will grab and hold all your attention. After ascending to the summit of this historic pass, linger at the
top, bask in the afterglow of your conquest over lunch, and savor the astounding views, the support, and good cheer of your
Trek Travel guides. Remember to acknowledge that you’ve just mastered one of cycling’s most fabled roads. If this isn’t
enough for you, continue up and over the mountain to attack Col de Sarenne. Known as “the B-side of Alpe d’Huez,” this
quiet road is popular with locals as an understated, less traveled, and equally difficult challenge. After an exhilarating
descent, choose to shuttle or ride back to Les Deux Alpes to watch the final riders on TV in today's time trial on Les
Planches des Belles Filles. This climb has been featured in the Tour in recent years but never before the race's final
mountaintop finish. We'll be sure to see the fight for yellow in all its unabashed glory and witness who will be parading the
yellow jersey into Paris. Tonight, we’ll toast to an unforgettable day in the Alps over a gourmet feast as you look forward to
      the finale in Paris tomorrow.
