QUEENS’ COLLEGE

Queens’ College is one of the oldest and largest
colleges of the university, founded in 1448
by Margaret of Anjou, and has some of the
most recognisable buildings in Cambridge.
The college spans both sides of the river Cam,
with the world-famous Mathematical Bridge
connecting the two sides.
CHRIST’S COLLEGE
Ages 16-18 July & August
The college is described as an oasis of calm in
the heart of Cambridge city, including beautiful
herbaceous borders and tranquil gardens laid
out over four courts.
The college is noted for producing two of
Cambridge’s most famous alumni: John Milton,
one of the greats of English literature, and
renowned scientist Charles Darwin.
SIDNEY SUSSEX COLLEGE
Ages 16-18 July & August
Sidney Sussex is located in the very heart of
Cambridge. Founded in 1596 Sidney Sussex
is a very well-kept secret – whether its
Elizabethan brickwork, charming Cloister Court,
the haunting Chapel, exquisite Rococo Hall,
medieval cellars or beautiful ancient gardens –
they all lie behind a rather self-effacing wall of
Roman cement.

Founded in 1473 by Robert Woodlark, the
hall was incorporated by charter of King
Edward IV: “a perpetual college … forever to
remain”.
The college, nicknamed “Catz”, is located in
the historic city-centre of Cambridge, and is
notable for its open court (rather than closed
quadrangle).
JESUS COLLEGE
Ages 16-18 August
Jesus College was founded in 1496 by John
Alcock, and the cockerel college emblem
represents the name of John Alcock himself.
The Chapel is the oldest university building
in Cambridge still in use, and pre-dates the
foundation of the College by 350 years!
MAGDALENE COLLEGE
Ages 16-18 August
Though dedicated to St Mary Magdalene,
the College is actually pronounced “Maudlyn’
to sound like the name of its founder, Lord
Audley, in 1542.
Magdalene College sits on the banks of the
River Cam, providing a peaceful setting just
a few minutes’ walk from Cambridge city
centre.

LADY MARGARET HALL
Ages 16-18 July
Established in 1879, Lady Margaret Hall was
the first women’s college in Oxford, cementing
its place in the history of Oxford University.
The college sits just to the north of Oxford city
centre, idyllically situated next to the University
Parks.
BRASENOSE COLLEGE
Ages 16-18 August
Brasenose College boats one of the most
enviable locations in Oxford - right next to the
famous Radcliffe Camera and a short walk
from the city.
Founded in 1509, famous alumni include world-
leaders David Cameron (UK Prime Minister) and
Malcolm Turnbull (Australian Prime Minister).
Students will be allocated to a college based on their dates and subject choice.
If you would like to stay in the same location as a friend/sibling - please let us
know and we will do our best to arrange this, where possible.
Males and females will have separate accommodation.

The purpose of Immerse is to provide an in-depth
exploration of one discipline through a variety of
topics so that participants can get a real sense of
what it would be like to study their subject at a more
advanced level; therefore we do not offer combined
subjects. Participants are able to schedule formal
meetings with any of the mentors on their programme,
who represent a diverse range of disciplines from
Cambridge and Oxford universities, where they can
gain insight into a different subject.

Our academically rigorous summer programmes are
carefully balanced with a range of social and cultural
opportunities for participants to meet other students
from all over the world and form new friendships
to last a lifetime. Our ‘Immersed’ alumni list punting

As well as these scheduled events, participants have
free time in which to explore their local surroundings,
relax with fellow participants, or take some time for
private study or to work on their personal project.

In spring 2020, the world changed with the outbreak of the
coronavirus pandemic.
We are regularly checking government advice, and any
residential programme will take place in line with official
health and safety guidelines.
This prospectus was published in August 2020, so please
visit our website for our most-up-to-date policy.
CAN YOU CATER FOR DIETARY REQUIREMENTS?
Yes, the on-site catering teams can cater to most medical
and religious dietary requirements. Please inform us of
any dietary or medical conditions well in advance of the
programme so that we can ensure that all relevant staff
members are aware.
CAN YOU HELP ME GET
FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE COLLEGE?
We offer a shared airport transfer service for participants
travelling from London Heathrow Airport, and back again
at the end of the programme. This is a chaperoned service
by Immerse Education which will be available to request
after enrolment.
For students arriving at other airports we are happy to
provide further advice regarding arrivals and departures
from the summer programmes.
WHEN IS THE ENROLMENT DEADLINE?
Places on our programmes are awarded on a first come,
first served basis with class sizes capped at a maximum of
10 participants. We therefore strongly recommend enrolling
early in the academic year to avoid disappointment.
