Codes of Conduct
The mission of Pequea Valley Youth Baseball is to provide a safe and wholesome environment conducive to
teaching the fundamentals of baseball, how to play competitively, and the ideas of teamwork, sportsmanship,
and respect for all young baseball players in the community.
To achieve our mission and have a fun, safe baseball season we ask parents, players, and coaches to observe a
code of conduct.

Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct:
           • I hereby pledge to provide positive support and encouragement for my child and his/her team by
following the PVYB Code of Conduct.
           • I will ensure that my child attends every practice and game on time, and I will inform my child’s
coach when he/she is unable to attend.
           • I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches,
and officials at every game, practice, or other PVYB events.
           • I will refrain from using profanities, yelling, speaking disrespectfully, or showing any form of
aggression toward coaches, umpires, other parents, spectators, or players.
           • I will respect the official’s decision and will refrain from showing disapproval.
           • I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my child ahead of a personal desire to win
and will remember that the game is for youth and not for adults.
           • I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free of drugs and alcohol and will refrain
from their use at all PVYB events.
           • I will not smoke or use tobacco products on the field or in the bench area during practice or
           games.
           • I will treat other players, coaches, spectators, and officials with respect regardless of race,
           gender, creed, or ability.
           • I will be present at all practices and games unless prior arrangements have been made.
           • I will not approach my child’s coach with issues or concerns during a game.
           • I will wait 24 hours after an incident before discussing coaching issues and concerns with my
           child’s coach.
           • I will seek to resolve issues with my child’s coach in as constructive a manner as possible and
will consider the best interests of all the people involved. If unable to resolve issues by working
directly with my child’s coach, I agree to work with Adam Brown (484-678-2218) or Dan Umstead
           (717-283-3704)
Player Code of Conduct:
           • I hereby pledge to be positive, support my team, and accept responsibility for my participation
by following the PVYB Code of Conduct.
           • I will attend every practice and game on time and will notify the coach if I cannot.
           • I will encourage good sportsmanship from fellow players, coaches, officials, and parents at every
game, practice, or other PVYB event by demonstrating good sportsmanship.
           • I will refrain from using profanities, yelling, speaking disrespectfully, or showing any form of
aggression toward coaches, umpires, parents, spectators, or other players.
           • I will respect the official’s decision and will refrain from showing disagreement by throwing
gloves, helmets, hats, bats, balls, or any other forceful unsportsmanlike action.
           • I will do my very best to listen and learn from my coaches.
           • I will treat other players, coaches, spectators, and officials with respect regardless of race,
gender, creed, or ability and I will expect to be treated accordingly.
           • I deserve to play in an environment that is free of drugs and alcohol and expect adults to refrain
from their use at all PVYB events.
           • I deserve to play in an environment that is free of tobacco products on the field or in the bench
area during practice or games and expect adults to refrain from their use in those areas.
           • I will remember that participating in sports is an opportunity to learn and have fun.
           • I will refrain from using unnecessarily rough tactics against the body of an opposing player.
           • I will remain on the bench and be attentive when my team is batting.
           • I will only swing a bat when it is my turn at bat. If I am on deck, I may warm up only if my
coach allows me and only in the designated area.
           • I will clean up trash around the bench and spectator areas after each game.

Consequences of noncompliance to the Parent and Player Code Conduct:
First Offense– Verbal warning
Second Offense– Player will sit out of practice or game. Parent will be asked to leave premises.
Third Offense– Meeting with coach, player, parent(s) and board member.
