TRANSFORMATIONS
Childspring International provides life-changing
medical treatment for children in developing
countries. Whether they receive a prosthetic limb
JOUSELINE restoring their mobility or a heart surgery saving
Haiti | age 17 their life, children treated through Childspring are
left fundamentally changed, and through their
experience, gain the strength to transform their
families and communities.
Each year, our organization increases the number of
children served by working through an ever-

MEET SHUKUROV
In Dushanbe, Tajikistan, an 11-month-old girl named
Shukurov was waiting for the moment she would receive
a surgery that would change her life. In March 2020,
Shukurov was born with a cleft lip and palate. Her
mother knew her child would need corrective surgery to SHUKUROV

help her child eat, speak, develop, and grow. She then
met a volunteer coordinator working with us at
Childspring International who supports surgeries in
Tajikistan. She thought she might be able to help.
In Tajikistan, we coordinate with in-country surgeons to
provide access to cleft palate surgeries. We are grateful
for the surgical teams that make this work possible. By
providing surgeries abroad, Childspring is able to focus
resources on providing access to medical care and
supporting local health providers – all without the child
having to leave their family and home country.
Shukurov received her first surgery in November of 2020
and her second this past February for both cleft lip and
palate. As we approach the marker of one year working
to provide surgeries through a global pandemic, we are
excited to see that Shukurov received both of her
surgeries before her first birthday coming up this March.
To all surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and health
providers who have made access to surgery possible over
the past year: we salute you. Thank you for your work in
solidarity with children seeking safe and accessible
surgical care throughout the global Covid-19 pandemic.

THE SPIRIT OF LOVE
The pandemic has been difficult for so many, especially children around the world
seeking surgical care. Read the stories of these three children who are at the top of
our list to come to the United States this spring and summer and who will be the
first to come since the pandemic began.
CAMILLE
Haiti | age 18
Camille lives with scoliosis. Camille was first connected with
Childspring in 2018. Since then, she has had multiple evaluations
from surgeons in Haiti but has not been able to receive treatment
yet. We have nearly secured surgery for her here in the US. She’ll
be one of the first to come since the pandemic started. Help
Camille receive this life-changing surgery.
FRANCISCO
El Salvador | age 16
Francisco was born with spastic diplegia cerebral palsy, a congenital
disorder that affects his muscles and movement. One of the surgeons
we work closely with met Francisco on a medical mission trip to El
Salvador and knew he wanted to help give Francisco a chance to have
better mobility. Francisco’s family hopes that this surgery will allow
him to thrive as he becomes an adult. Help Francisco walk freely with
his family in El Salvador.
LATIKA
Jamaica | age 12
Latika was born with Marfan syndrome, a genetic disorder that
affects the connective tissue in the body. It has caused her to have
severe scoliosis. She lives with chronic pain, and her family hopes
that this surgery will take some of that away and allow her to live
pain-free. Help Latika live pain-free and without the risk of future
complications as the result of her condition.
