This guide is prepared for all students of the Graduate School, who have received their
admission for a place in the MBA or MEng program, and who wish to find accommodation in
our student residence in Esslingen, Goerdelerweg, Geschwister-Scholl-Straße, Fabrikstraße,
Rossneckar I and Rossneckar II (Rossneckar Boardinginghouse) . The Student Dormitory
Reservation Form is complementary to the “Students Acceptance to the Esslingen Master’s
Program”.
Take some time to read this guide carefully before completing the “Online Application”
(https://www.studierendenwerk-stuttgart.de/en/accommodation/online-application/.) We
recommend to send the online registration as soon as possible, as all applications will be
considered on a “first come-first served basis”. The deadline for accommodation
application is 1 July. Accommodation cannot be guaranteed for applications submitted after
the deadline and incomplete and / or unsigned forms will not be considered.

The residences are Goerdelerweg, Geschwister-Scholl-Straße, Fabrikstraße and Rossneckar I +
II. All 5 residences (only self-catering) are in Esslingen near to the campuses.
Goerdelerweg has a rent of € 321,- per month. The single rooms are furnished and heated
with private bathroom, toilet and a small kitchen.
Geschwister-Scholl-Straße has a rent of € 270,- per month. The single rooms are furnished
and heated with bathroom and toilet shared with the neighbouring student. The kitchen is used
by 4, 6 or 8 persons.
Fabrikstraße has a rent of € 305,- to € 350,-per month. The single rooms are furnished and
heated with bathroom and toilet shared with other 2 persons. The kitchen is shared by 5, 6, 8,
or 10 persons.
Rossneckar I has a rent of approx. € 310,- per month. The single rooms are furnished and
heated with bathroom and toilet shared by maximum 3 persons. The kitchen is used by 5, 6, 7,
or 9 persons.
Rossneckar II has a rent of. € 339,- or € 359,- per month. The single rooms are furnished and
heated with bathroom and toilet shred with other 2 persons. The kitchen is used by 6 or 8
persons.
(in the Rossneckar Boardinghouse, you can rent apartments only for short term: Between
2 weeks and six months. Monthly rent : € 450 to € 1250, depending on the term of lease, size
and interior.)
The deposit is € 400,-.
How to apply – online application
The deadline for accommodation application is 1 July
It is not allowed to apply for a dormitory room again if you have actually stay in one of our
dormitories

Please specify under which program you will come to the Hochschule Esslingen. Please
choose “Graduate School” by “ Data about the study course” –“Program”
The current certificate of enrolment can be given at a later date

the period of twelve months (beginning of September until end of August) or six months
(beginning September until end of February)
Every section of the “Application for admission” needs to be completed
As a great part of the information will be sent by e-mail it is very important that you give us
your current e-mail address and keep us informed concerning any changes

Offer of a room
As soon as we have done the assignment of rooms you will receive an offer of room by e-mail
in which you will be required to make a prepayment of € 700,- by bank transfer (€ 400,- for
deposit and € 300,- prepayment of the first rent). Whatever you might pay too much will
be deducted from the next months rent. This amount is due to be paid at latest until
deadline (please see your room offer). Further details concerning the mode of payment will
be given in the “Offer of room”.
Arrival at Esslingen
Together with the “Offer of Room” you will receive detailed information concerning the address
and location of the dormitory.
On the arrival day please go directly to the dormitory, where you will be greeted by a staff
member of the Studierendenwerk Stuttgart.
Check-in time: Wednesday, 1 September 2021, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.

Rental agreement
Please note that the apartments are basically rented out semester wise, i.e. September to
February and March to August. You will receive a rental agreement for a continuous period of
12 months (September – August). There are no reductions or refunds for late arrivals or early
departures. The rent has to be paid monthly by debit permission.

terms and conditions of renting a room from the Studierendenwerk Stuttgart, and the rules and
regulations you must adhere to when you are in residence.
Cancelling of reservation
If you decide that you do not need accommodation, please inform the Studierendenwerk
Stuttgart Wohnheimverwaltung/Accommodation Service by the 15th July at the latest. Please
submit the cancellation in written form to the following address:

Frequently asked Questions
Is my room furnished?
Yes. Rooms are furnished with necessary furniture and equipment. All rooms have a bed, chair,
desk, wardrobe and lamps.
Pillow, cover, sheets and bedspread cost € 50,- and can be received from the janitor.
The cost of € 50,- will be debited together with the monthly rent for October.
What equipment is supplied in the self-catering halls in the kitchen?
Goerdelerweg: Single kitchen
Geschwister-Scholl-Straße: Kitchen shared by 4, 6 or 8 students
Fabrikstraße: Kitchen shared by 5, 6, 8, or 10 students
Rossneckar I: Kitchen shared by 5, 6, 7, or 9 students
Rossneckar II: Kitchen shared by 5 or 7 students
(Rossneckar Boardinghouse): Single kitchen
Cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery are not generally provided, though there might be a
stock from former residents. (Except the Rossneckar Boardinghouse)
Cookers, fridges, freezers and cupboards are provided.
Please notice: There are no microwaves, toasters, egg boilers or rice cookers provided.
Where is the bathroom?
Goerdelerweg: Single bathroom in each apartment with shower and
private toilet
Geschwister-Scholl-Straße: two neighbouring rooms share one bathroom and toilet
Fabrikstraße: bathroom and toilet shared by maximum 3 students
Rossneckar I: bathroom and toilet shared by maximum 3 students
Rossneckar II: bathroom and toilet shared by maximum 3 students
Rossneckar Boardinghouse): Single bathroom in each apartment with shower and
private toilet
You have to bring your own towels.
What happens to my mail?
P:\Texte-Wohnen\WOWTEXT\Ladewig\GSIn the dormitory there is a mailbox for each room number. The postman will put your mail into
the appropriate mailbox. Be sure of notifying the correct address and the room number.

Is there internet connection in my room?
Yes, and it is with LAN cable in some of the houses.
What about laundry and linen?
There are laundry rooms in all dormitories with washing machines and dryers available. It costs
€ 2,10 a washing and € 1,60 a drying.
Am I allowed to have guests in the residence?
Unfortunately not, the room is rented out for one person only.
Is it possible to move within the university managed accommodation?
Unfortunately not possible.
What happens to the deposit when I move out?
It will be refunded not earlier than six weeks after end of the rental agreement has expired,
provided that the room is left in a condition ready to move in, with complete inventory and all
keys.
Is it possible to extend my rental agreement?
There is a possibility to extend your rental agreement from 01.03.- 31.08., if you have a rental
agreement only for one semester.
Does the janitor speak English?
Yes.
