                                                                             I undertook an Arts/Law double degree because
                                                                             I wanted to combine my passion for law with my
                                                                             social conscience and desire to help my community.
                                                                             In my Arts degree, I pursued Chinese studies and
                                                                             International development. My Chinese studies
                                                                             led me to study abroad in Nanjing in China, where
                                                                             I was exposed to poverty-stricken environments.
                                                                             Meanwhile, my International development subjects
                                                                             showed me some of the solutions that were possible.
                                                                             When I returned from studying abroad in China,
                                                                             I wanted to take action to combat poverty. I came
                                                                             up with the idea for Crepes for Change, which
                                                                             was the first business in a group now known as
                                                                             Society Melbourne.
                                                                             My Arts degree has led to a fulfilling career in
                                                                             ethical entrepreneurship, and informed my practice
                                                                             as a pro bono lawyer."
