Senior Academic Letter Award Seniors will receive an academic letter for their senior year if they have an overall average of 88 or higher. They must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 class periods. They are not eligible if they enrolled after the 10th day of their senior year. BOT Award is given to seniors who have earned a grade of 90 or higher in each class. in order to qualify for the award, students should not have a grade below an 80. Based on 1st three quarters of grades GRADUATION HONORS ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT HONORS AWARD Valedictorian - 1st Rank in Senior Class In addition to satisfying all graduation requirements: Salutatorian - 2nd Rank in Senior Class Receive a minimum grade of "B" for each course in grades Distinguished Honor Graduate - 4.37 or higher 9-12 through the seventh semester, and Honor Graduate - 4.0-4.36 Achieve either a score of 710 SAT Critical Reading, or a 690 (Students will find out at graduation practice if they SAT Math, or an ACT score of 30 on English, or 33 on Math are a Distintuished Honor Graduate or an Honor OR Graduate) Have a combined score of 1400 on the SAT Critical Reading SC Academic Achievement Honors Award and Math sections or an ACT composite score of 31
Important Reminders All seniors must order a cap, gown, and tassel. If your cap, gown, and tassel have not been ordered, you must go online to www.lowcountrygrad.com. Click on "Graduation Supplies." Type in Ashley Ridge High School. Cap, gown, and tassel order is at the very bottom. Cost is $67 right now, but it will increase. TAKE CARE OF THIS IMMEDIATELY. Senior Awards Night is on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 6:30 in the ARHS auditorium. Invitations will be mailed by Tuesday, April 19. Information must be received by April 20th to be announced at Senior Awards Night and by May 13th to be included in the graduation program. Extended School Year is available from Monday, May 16- Friday, May 20 to seniors who have failed a course that they need for graduation. The cost Is $100. Seniors will have an opportunity to recover units in all four quarters. There is limited time to recover units, therefore, this is not a suggested method of earning credits toward graduation. Jostens will be in the media center in March or April (date TBA) to give out graduation supplies. Cap and gowns will NOT be given out at this time. They will be distributed at graduation practice. Supplies distributed will include invitations, name cards, thank you note cards, etc. Outstanding balances to Jostens must be cleared prior to delivery. Prom - The prom is scheduled for Saturday, April 2nd at the Embassy Suites (Performing Arts Center) in North Charleston. This is a school-sponsored event, and all students are expected to follow all school rules. Tuesday, March 15, 2022 - Senior Graduation Parent Meeting at 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Important information will be shared concerning the end of the year activities. The PowerPoint will be posted on the senior web page. Senior Exams begin on May 16 and end on May 20, 2022. Seniors may exempt a final exam if they have an overall 80 average and no unexcused absences. The official last full day of school for seniors is Friday, May 13. All scholarships, military commitments, and awards offered should be reported to Mrs. Nicholson, Mrs. Gibson, Ms. Achilles, Mrs. Pastor, and/or Mrs. James by Wednesday, April 20th so they can be listed in the graduation program. Also, let your counselor know all colleges you have been accepted to and any scholarship offers you have received. We list all awards in the graduation program. Obligations must be paid in full prior to graduation. Payment plans are available, please see Mrs. Matthews. All obligations can be paid in the front office to Mrs. Jones. Students will receive a receipt when they pay an obligation. All obligations must be paid by Wednesday, May 25. All seniors who have debts or obligations to the school or to teachers must clear them up before they are allowed to participate in graduation, receive their caps and gowns, or receive their diploma. Payment plans are available! Submit all official test scores to your college via College Board (AP and SAT) and ACT. Test scores that come from AR are not official. Colleges will need a copy of your immunization records. Copies can be made from your file in guidance.
Important Reminders (continued) Senior Report Cards will be distributed from 8-8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, in the cafeteria. Students must present their final report card in order to pick up their cap and gown. Students will fill out an Post-Secondary Plans Form before picking up their report card. Each student will fill out the form to let us know where you will be next year (college, military, work, etc.). Seniors must request final transcripts through Parchment. The Senior Academic Letter Breakfast will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, in the ARHS auditorium at 9 a.m. Seniors will receive a hand-delivered invitation for this event. Early College Students receiving a degree Trident Tech will participate in Trident's graduation on May 6 at 3:00 pm. at the North Charleston Coliseum. Graduation Practice will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, in the auditorium at ARHS promptly at 8 a.m. It is mandatory that all seniors participating in the graduation ceremony attend the practice. No Practice = No Ceremony!! Please be on time! Valedictorian, Salutatorian, distinguished honor graduates, and honor graduates will be announced during graduation practice. Students receiving the Diploma of Distinction will also be recognized at graduation practice. Students will be assigned specific rows. We will walk through the entire procession! Distribution of caps/gowns and cords to seniors will be done following graduation practice in the mini-gym. Only students meeting graduation requirements will be allowed to receive their caps and gowns. Final report card must be shown to receive cap and gown, and student must not have any obligations. Jostens will be available in the mini-gym for last minute issues. Honor Society cords and stoles will be given out by the honor society advisor prior to graduation practice or at graduation practice. Baccalaureate Service will be held on Thursday, May 26. The location and time will be announced at a later time. The Summerville Ministerial Association who is sponsoring this program, invites all seniors and their parents to attend. Dress for seniors will be caps and gowns with appropriate dress underneath. The program will last approximately one hour. Final Rank and GPA's will not be released until after Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Final transcripts requested through Parchment will be sent at this time. After Graduation, don't forget to request delivery of your FINAL TRANSCRIPT from Parchment. If there are any disciplinary issues involving a senior, it could impact whether they are allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony. Graduation Reminders Graduation will be held Saturday, May 28, time 1:30pm, in the North Charleston Coliseum. Students not wishing to participate in the ceremony need to tell Mrs. Matthews ASAP. Diplomas can be picked up on Tuesday, May 31, in the school office if you choose not to participate in the graduation ceremony. Students that are not eligible to graduate or participate may pick up their caps and gowns on Tuesday, May 31 in Mrs. Matthews's office. The dress for graduation will be a dress shirt, tie/bow tie, dress slacks, and dress shoes and socks for males. A dress, skirt and blouse, or dress pants and dress shoes are appropriate for females. Jeans, head gear, flip-flops, beach shoes, tennis shoes, exposed midriffs, halter tops, and tee-shirts are not acceptable. Caps are worn forward with the mortarboard parallel to the floor. Tassels are worn on the left until Mrs. Matthews confirms the graduating class. If there is a problem with dress, a senior sponsor or principal should be notified prior to graduation. I will have plenty of extra ties if a male does not have one. There is no limit to the number of guests you can have attend graduation at this time. Please know that due to a rise in COVID-19 numbers, this could change at any time. Information regarding parking will be released ASAP. There is limited handicapped seating. If you have a handicapped family member, please arrive early. The ceremony will last approximately one hour and forty-five minutes. Cooperation is needed so our graduation can be a dignified and significant event. The same behavior standards are true for graduates and members of the audience. Everyone has the right to hear his or her name and not loud, boisterous cheering. No horns, shakers, bells, vuvuzelas, or noisemakers of any type will be allowed. Students should pause as they receive their diploma cover to give the photographer time to take a picture. Also, students who are concerned about the pronunciation of their names need to speak to Mr. Pieretti prior to graduation. On-Stage-Pictures will be taken by Tumbleston as you receive your diploma cover, Tumbleston will email the pictures to you for purchase. As students cross the stage at graduation, they will receive an empty diploma cover. As the students recess out of their row, they will receive a white envelope that contains their diploma. DD2 Diploma of Distinction Must meet ALL seven criteria by the end of the senior year: Show written verification of participation in at least one school sponsored organization (club) in 10th-12th grade or complete 50 hours of approved community service during high school Earn at least three credits in the same foreign language Earn three or more credits at the AP, Dual Credit, or IB level. Two of these three must be earned in three of the four core areas. Earn four or more credits in: English, Math, Science, Social Studies SAT (CR+M) 1,100 OR ACT (composite) 24 or higher Overall GPA of 4.0 or higher 28 credits Graduation Cords There are three types of cords: Military Cord - Students who have signed a letter of commitment to join one of the armed forces. Ready to Work Cords - Students who have earned a Ready to Work certificate - Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Bronze. Academic Schools of Study Cords - Students who have completed a career major in one of the 4 schools of study. All graduation cords will be given out at graduation practice. Honor Society cords and stoles will be given out by the honor society advisor prior to graduation practice or at graduation practice. Requesting Transcripts www.parchment.com Delivery of all transcripts must be requested at parchment.com Transcripts will be sent electronically (even if you apply using paper application, an account must be created to have transcript sent electronically) FREE to all colleges in SC, minimal fee for some out-of-state schools if they choose to charge (over 1,700 colleges/universities in the network) Request Delivery then Track Receipt of your transcript Request Initial Transcript for ALL colleges applying Request Mid-Year Transcript at the semester (to schools requesting) Request Final Transcript to the college you will attend All requests must be made by Wednesday, May 25th. Light the Night for the Class of 2022 Seniors and their families are invited to attend the AR Light the Night for the Class of 2022 on Thursday, May 12! Seniors come drive on campus and be greeted by our faculty, staff, and your families on a one of a kind send off! All seniors must remain in their vehicles! Senior's families, are invited to decorate their cars and set up to cheer on the Class of 2022! Please arrive no later than 7:40pm to get your spot to cheer on your senior! More information will be released at a later date.
