Drawing on real-life cases and best practices of retailers such
as Target, IUIGA, Sheng Siong, Starbucks, and Warby Parker,
in an omni-channel world, participants will learn about the key
factors that drive value for customers in the retail industry. You
will work with experienced faculty to identify the current value
proposition for your customers and compare it with best-in-class
practices to identify avenues for leveraging digital and social
media along with physical assets (if any) to create meaningful,
authentic, and differentiated value for your customers.
Connecting customer value to retail strategy, the first segment
will also feature in-depth case discussions on the strategies Singapore Management University

the retail industry. In addition, participants will be involved in an
immersive discussion on the evolution of Zara and its expansion
in China and India. Drawing on cross company group work, the
participants will work with faculty to identify the key lessons

The first segment will conclude with a fire-side chat featuring
discussions with C-suite leaders from MNC retailers, retail start-
ups and SME retailers to gain a first-hand insight into strategies
and tactics that senior retail leaders adopted to survive and

Segment 2 of ARLP is organised in collaboration with CEIBS.
This segment offers participants an in-depth analysis of the
new consumption and retail patterns in China. Gain insights
into the digitalisation of sports and luxury brands in China from
industry speakers from Yaok University and Alibaba Group.
Learn about the digital transformation shaping businesses and
the proliferation of e-commerce and social commerce in the
marketplace. Participants will undertake group projects to study
the adoption of emerging technologies by luxury retailers such
as Gucci.

Dr. Kapil R. Tuli is Lee Kong Chian Professor of Marketing at the Lee Dr. Nirmalya Kumar is Lee Kong Chian Professor of Marketing

Dr. Chen Lin is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at CEIBS.
Prior to joining CEIBS in 2015, she was an Assistant Professor of

University. She received her Ph.D in Marketing from Goizueta Dr. Chen Lin
Business School, Emory University in 2012, and her B. Computing Assistant Professor of Marketing China Europe

in E-Commerce from National University of Singapore in 2007.
Dr. Chen Lin’s research interest lies in empirically examining digital and social media marketing problems. She was named Yahoo! Faculty
Research and Engagement Fellow in 2014 and received several best paper award from American Marketing Association and Marketing
Science Institute. She has taught EMBA, EED, MBA Marketing Research, Digital Marketing and Business Technology Innovation. Dr. Chen Lin
is a popular marketing Op-Ed columnist on SINA Finance, Forbes and Economist EIU.
