possible total of 8 hours. Requires reviewing award criteria, and ranking each submitted
application/nomination. Amna Jara is the advisor of the committee.

It is important that the committee (and all SG members!) encourage people to apply
and/or nominate folks for the awards. Many are scholarships.

       - Senator Medrano
       - Senator Rodriguez

IV.02 ASCC Constitution and Bylaw Revision Task Force Report, Information and
       Discussion Item, 30 Minutes.
The ASCC Senate will receive a report presented by Vice President Avila progress of the
ASCC Constitution and Bylaw Revision Task Force.

       Discussion
   • If anyone has suggestions with additional detail you can also email
       cerritosstudentgov@cerritos.edu.
   • Suggest to also consider structure at universities (UC, elite, etc.).
o Mainly looking at CCC because Education Codes are different, between other
states and within CA higher ed systems. Will bring suggestion to task force.
   • What is the ‘mission’ in the report? The mission is the charge identified in the Joint
       legislation.
   • Are there assigned writers in the committee? Currently AJ (advisor) is writing down
feedback from the committee and getting consensus from the committee.
o Is AJ writing the bylaws, or keeping notes? Right now she is taking notes on the
document (what task force likes, what wants to change, what needs updating,
               etc.), no official writing yet.
   • Was it discussed if there should be a different name for the Bylaws?
o Not currently. Suggestion is to adopt different name and organization system,
               ‘Associated Students Code’.

Senator Marquez moves to extent time by 20 minutes, seconded by Senator Ramos. No
       objections, motion passes.

       Discussion
       • Second suggestion made to review schools outside of the CCC.
       • Are members of the task force familiarizing themselves with jurisprudence? Think it
is important for committee to consider what are laws, how they are enforced, etc.
          (good idea)
       • Is the committee considering papers or resources outside of the parliamentarian
recommendations? Currently no. Recommend they do, so to understand how law
systems work. If members have resources, please share with the Task Force.

Senator Marquez moves to end discussion, seconded by Senator Guerra. No objections, motion
passes.
