AUG - NOV 2020 2020 GIRL SCOUTS OF WESTERN OHIO FALL RECRUITMENT TOOLKIT
Toolkit Overview Get everyone excited to discover Girl Scouts! Use one of the graphics below with a general discover Girl Scouts message in the caption, or call out a specific session in the description! Either link directly to the Robot Building Party or the Animal Dance Party. Be sure to direct them to gswo.org to join or renew. WHERE TO POST: • Social Groups: mom boards, school Facebook Groups, neighborhood Facebook groups) • Nextdoor.com • Libraries • Rec centers • Doctors’ offices (Pediatricians, Dentists, Counselors, Therapists) • Coffee Shops • Grocery stores (Kroger, Walmart, Target, Dollar Stores) • Faith-Based Organizations (Churches, Synagogues, Mosques) • Community bulletins (in-person and online) & event calendars • Rotary, Kiwanis and other civic organizations • Chambers of Commerce • Online school groups, including home school groups TIPS FOR USING SOCIAL POSTS AND GRAPHICS: Where should I post a link? If you are posting on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn, include the link at the end of each caption. We don’t recommend posting about your recruitment events on Instagram, but if you would like to, include the link in your bio and make sure each caption says “Register at the link in my bio.” at the end. What if I don’t know which caption to use? Any of the captions are good to use, but if you are having a hard time picking one out or if you’re in a hurry, we went ahead and highlighted a few posts in green so you can get started! Also any information the CDM should include is highlighted in pink. (Don’t forget to remove the brackets!) 2
Toolkit Overview (Continued) How often should I post? Post 2-3 times a week on your personal page and 2-3 times over the course of a 2-week period in a single Facebook Group. We want to avoid spamming! What time of the day should I post? Since caregivers and parents are busy, posting first thing in the morning, lunch time, or after dinner are typically the ideal times. (Also note the times you see your audience posting the most.) Where do I put my event information in the post? You can either request the social media graphic from the Brand Center that allows you to upload your date and time to the graphic, or you can include that information in the caption. Do not upload an image of your flyer to social media, because the text will be too small to read on mobile devices—touch on the main information in the caption, and the rest they can find on Eventbrite! 3

Keep the copy brief and stick to the basic journalistic facts (who, what, when, why, how). Note: should the media outlet want to do an interview or a larger story about Girl Scouts and our fall programming, please loop in KayAnn in MarComm. ROBOT BUILDING PARTY: Girls in grades K-3 are invited to a free robot-building party on [DATE] at [TIME]. At this [in-person / virtual] event, girls will identify a problem and use their creativity and objects [provided / around your house] to build a robot that solves that problem.
