The Organizing Committee of Blu Cobalto Underwater Photo Academy, sponsored
by the "Premio Marcante 2019", announces the 5th Underwater Photography
Contest Blu Cobalto with awards at the Galata Museum of Genoa in occasion of
"Premio Marcante 2019”.
The underwater photography's awarded pictures will have the honor to enjoy a
show at the prestigious event "Premio Marcante 2019". The awarded photos and
those reported will be exhibited as part of the exhibition at the Galata museum .
The award ceremony will take place on Feb. 23, 2019 at 15,30 am during the event
"Premio Marcante 2019".
Categorie
The BLU COBALTO’s competition is divided into two categories FOR TYPE OF EQUIP-
MENT:
-compatte
-reflex / mirrorless
Both categories may submit photographs both Mediterranean and tropical in the following
sections:
-Macro
-Environment
The results will be differentiated between:
- Affirmed (who ranked first second or third in national and international
competitions - do not count any works or special mentions)
- - Beginners (who have never made first second or third in national and in-
ternational competitions except for marked works or special mentions)
There will also be two special sections in one category (regardless of photographic
equipment):
- Mediterranean Portfolio theme phototellyng
- -Photography Artistic Underwater

BLU COBALTO PHOTO CONTEST BANDO DI CONCORSO Categories by type of equipment COMPACT Participants can submit a maximum of: • 2 Pictures in the macro section • 2 Photos in the environment section • 3 Photos (obligatory photo number) for the special section "Portfolio Mediter- ranean • 2 Photo for artistic photography section Underwater REFLEX / mirrorless Participants can submit a maximum of: • 2 Pictures in the macro section • 2 Photos in the environment section • 3 Photos (obligatory photo number) for the special section "Portfolio Mediter- ranean • 2 photos for the Underwater artistic photography section Sezioni MACRO Macro photography means the images taken with a high magnification ratio of the subject or part of it. Macro photographs taken with wide-angle lenses (MACRO) will be inserted in the "Macro" category. ENVIRONMENT Ambient photography means the images made with wide-angle or similar lenses in which the environment and the life of the backdrop are evident. The images (MACRO) or double exposures where the subject in the foreground are Macro do not belong to this category. Images will be privileged in the judgment where the ma- rine environment is the protagonist. BLU COBALTO PHOTO CONTEST 4
BLU COBALTO PHOTO CONTEST BANDO DI CONCORSO Special sections (without distinction SLR / mirrorless - compact) MEDITERRANEO portfolio PHOTOTELLING theme In this special section, the competitors must submit OBLIGATORY 3 photographs taken in the Mediterranean Sea. It will be considered the relevance with the story described in the title, three images that must demonstrate in its entirety the ability of the photographer to develop a story by demonstrating the photographic quality value but also the ability of the story. Not necessar- ily must be three different images by type (close macro environment) but it is important that if they were for example three macro telling a history (spawning, hunting time etc.) and if they are three types of different photographs (close macro environment) that are relevant to the history reported in the title (for example the red color, gorgonias, graphisms etc.). The jury will attribute the score according to the ability of the author to "tell" the chosen theme with quality. In this case the title of the presented portfolio will be provided to the jury. UNDERWATER ARTISTIC PHOTOGRAPHY In this special section, the contestants will be able to present 1 photo and modify the origi- nal file without limits, using all the photo editing and post production programs to perform photompositions, collages, graphic photography without limits to the imagination both in execution and post-production ( excluding the movement of animals from their natural habitat The jury will evaluate not only the ability to work with graphic programs but above all the ability through a project to develop a final photograph that has a clear message. The files names must be as follows: NAME - LAST NAME - CODE - CATEGORY- SECTION OF MEMBERSHIP - TITLE -SIGLE - Compact: C - REflex / mirrorless: R ACRONYM AFFIRMED / MAIDEN - affirmed: A - maiden: E SECTIONS ABBREVIATION OF BELONGING: • Macro: MC • Environment: AM • Portfolio Mediterranean: MED • Artistic underwater photography: AS EXAMPLE: MARIO_ROSSI_R_AM_GORGONIA (Mario Rossi presents a photo taken with a camera in the room, photo title gorgo- nia) LUCA_BIANCHI_C_MC_CAVALLUCCIO (Luca Bianchi has a photo taken with a compact under Macro, photo title "cavalluc- cio") For special sections you do not need to specify its category (REFLEX / mirrorless - compact) or the acronym affirmed -maiden esempio: FRANCO_NERI_MED_OCTOPUS (Franco Neri presents one of the three pictures in the special section entitled Portfolio Mediterranean Octopus-) All photographs will be recoded by the organization and presented anony- mously to the jury. The jury will be composed by external members of the blu cobalto associa- tion , and the jury's work will be streamed live on the website www.blucobal- tophotoacademy.it and on the Blucobalto’s social channel. BLU COBALTO PHOTO CONTEST BANDO DI CONCORSO Rules (with the exception of special section “Artistic underwater photo- graphy”) 1-All images, even if "cropped", will have to maintain the original reproduction ratios (2: 3, 4: 3, etc. ..) 2-The use of the clone stamp is allowed to clear the images from any small defects 3-The use of brightness and contrast is allowed 4-Image overlays are not allowed but only double exposures made on camera. 5-The participating works must not have been classified on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd pla- ce in competitions prior to 31 December 2018 6-Works representing stressed organisms or clearly removed from their natural environ- ment will be disqualified at the discretion of the organizers and the reference biologist. 7-Maximum image cropping of 30% is allowed 8-The winners will be asked for the original file and the ranking will be official only after receiving all the original files. At the discretion of the organization disqualify any images that have not complied with the regulation. 9-The outline and the alteration of backgrounds are not allowed 10- Split Shot shots are allowed but 50% must be submerged 11- All photos must be made in open water, shots are not allowed in aquariums, and swimming pools Tranne che per la categoria Artistica Subacquea 12- Maximum file size 10 Mb BLU COBALTO PHOTO CONTEST 7

In case of dispute the contestants are asked to write their motivations only info@blucobal- tophotoacademy.it Claims made public shall in no way affect or include the names of companies or institu- tions, regardless of whether they are or aren't event's sponsors. Otherwise it will be the Organizing Committee to consider possible legal proceedings to the competent court. The final judgment will be unchallengeable.
