        OVERVIEW
Brewster Academy, a 200-year-old boarding and day school in Wolfeboro, New
Hampshire has long served a cognitively diverse student body effectively using a
unique approach to education called the Brewster Model. This research-driven and
time-tested model of instruction is characterized by a number of salient features,
including a team-based approach, embedded academic support, and mastery-
based, multi-leveled collaborative classroom modes that collectively function to
effectively serve a broad range of students. Brewster’s vision statement compels
school leadership to scale Brewster’s influence of this particular mode of teaching.

After two years of careful research in educational markets across the globe,
Brewster has selected Madrid, Spain as the site for its first global campus given the
clear demand for American-style education and for Brewster’s all-encompassing
approach to student-centeredness. Using the Brewster Model as the foundation,
the Head of Brewster Madrid will be charged with creating a school from the
ground up. They will be provided with a budget fitting the task, along with a broader
organizational structure capable of supporting the Head every step of the way.

Brewster Madrid is scheduled to open in the fall of 2023. It will be a K-12 day
school with an anticipated enrollment of approximately 1,200 students once the
school is fully scaled. Ideally, the founding Head will be able to spend all or part of
the 2021-22 academic year on the Brewster Academy campus in New Hampshire,
serving in a school leadership role while learning about Brewster’s approach to
education. The appointee will then transition to Madrid in July 2022 as founding
Head of School at Brewster Madrid.

                                                                             CARNEYSANDOE.COM 2

MADRID, SPAIN
A modern metropolitan city, Madrid is the capital of Spain, home to the Spanish
Royal family and the Spanish Government. With its population of nearly 3.3 million
people, it is the country’s largest city. Located in the center of the Iberian Peninsula,
Madrid is surrounded by mountains and natural parks. It has traditionally been
the hub between different areas of Spain and is therefore connected to all major
Spanish cities by train, road, or air. Madrid’s system of public transport is among
the best in the world.

Madrid’s influence in politics, education, entertainment, environment, media,
fashion, science, culture, and the arts all contribute to its status as one of the
world’s major global cities. Due to its economic output, high standard of living,
and market size, Madrid is considered the major financial center and the leading
economic hub of the Iberian Peninsula and of Southern Europe. It hosts the head
offices of the vast majority of major Spanish companies, such as Telefónica, IAG,
and Repsol. Madrid is a diverse, cosmopolitan city and a popular expat destination;
it is consistently recognized as one of Europe’s most livable cities.

While Madrid possesses modern infrastructure, it has preserved the look and feel
of many of its historic neighborhoods and streets. The city is full of monuments,
like the royal palace, the Plaza Mayor, and its many statuettes. The museums
Del Prado, Reina Sofia, and Thyssen have some of the most fantastic collections
of famous Spanish painters like Velazquez, Goya, Picasso, and Miro. There are
regular international concerts, big flea markets, parades, and other activities, as
well as an active nightlife. To sport enthusiasts, Madrid can offer everything from
skiing (only one hour away by bus) during the winter, to golf all year round, as
well as international sporting events from its two world-famous soccer clubs, Real
Madrid and Atlético Madrid.

                                                                       CARNEYSANDOE.COM 6

BREWSTER MADRID – THE K-12 EDUCATIONAL
       LANDSCAPE
The demand for private K-12 education and American-style education in particular
is both extremely high and is projected to grow in the coming years. An analysis of
current K-12 options in Madrid and the environs reveals there is a strong appetite
for Brewster’s particular approach to education. Given that Brewster Madrid will
       be a K-12 school—a clearly-articulated non-negotiable to enter this market—this
successful candidate will be charged with superimposing Brewster’s ethos as
embodied in The Brewster Model onto a K-12 framework.

       BREWSTER MADRID – THE BUILDOUT
Reporting to a small and devoted group of founding Brewster Madrid board
members and supported by the leadership of Brewster Academy International,
LLC (the corporate body that functionally connects Brewster Academy Wolfeboro
with Brewster Madrid) the founding Head will develop a deep understanding of the
culture and practices of Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro either through intensive
or extensive work on campus in Wolfeboro with the senior administration during
       school year 2021-22.

Armed with an understanding of Brewster’s approach to education, the Head will
hire an initial group of founding senior administrators to lead through the buildout
of the curriculum and operational plans. Concurrently, the founding Head will work
directly with U.S. and Spanish architectural firms to design and, ultimately, build
the home of Brewster Madrid. Thereafter, the founding Head will transition to
Madrid for the 2022-23 year in order to lead the marketing and admissions efforts
in the recruitment of Brewster Madrid’s first students in what will become a steady
buildout of the school over several years.

                                                                          CARNEYSANDOE.COM 7
