Committee Reports Dawn Wells grew up in Gooding, Idaho and spent much of her
Nominations & Elections childhood at the Idaho School for the Deaf and the Blind (ISDB). She is
Motions From the Floor an Only Hearing Child of Deaf Adults (OHCODA), from 4 generations of
2021-2022 Plans Deaf family, and she has a total of 10 professional interpreters in her
Announcements family, including her eldest daughter. Dawn holds the National
Interpreter Certification at the Master level and has been interpreting
professionally for over 30 years. She currently works as a freelance
community interpreter and her experience spans a multitude of
settings, including post-secondary education, employment, one on one meetings and
more. IdahoRID is especially dear to her because her aunt and uncle are founding
members that helped organize the commencement of our chapter. Dawn lives in the
Treasure Valley is married with 2 daughters and a son. When she isn’t working or involved
with IdahoRID she enjoys gardening, art, and summer evenings on her spacious patio.Board of Directors

Treasurer’s Report
Officers’ Reports Sarah Spellman was born and raised in Southern California. She
Committee Reports graduated with her baccalaureate degree in Deaf Studies with an
Nominations & Elections emphasis in Interpreting from California State University, Fresno and
Motions From the Floor her Master’s degree in Interpretation from Gallaudet University. Sarah
2021-2022 Plans has been interpreting for a total of 17 years in various areas, including
Announcements spending six years as a professional interpreter in the greater DC Metro
area before moving to Moscow, Idaho in 2013. Her experience
encompasses working as an employee, with agencies, and on a direct
hire basis in a multitude of settings, specializing in graduate degree programs
interpretation. Sarah currently is a staff interpreter at one of Idaho’s post-secondary
institutions, Idaho State University, Meridian campus. Sarah is actively involved with
IdahoRID, currently serving as Historian chair. She believes the only way to improve upon
the present and to have a strong foundation is by learning from the past. Sarah shines with
her ability to detect and improve upon microdetails within any project she takes up. She
currently lives in the beautiful Treasure Valley in her 1920’s bungalow with her adorable
dog and cat and she enjoys house projects in her spare time.Board of Directors
