Deputy Principal
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our positive and supportive team as a Deputy Principal 5PMU +
2FTU 2021, fully released. We are seeking a passionate and positive leader to join our team and to take us
forward in our journey. The successful applicant will need to have strong curriculum and pedagogical
knowledge, and be capable of building and maintaining respectful relationships. An ability to see the big
picture while being able to focus on the daily details is a must.

                                                   Position
We are seeking a passionate and positive leader to step into the position of Deputy Principal. Main
responsibilities include the leadership of the senior area of the school (year 3-6) as well as leading
curriculum development across the whole school. A strong curriculum and pedagogical knowledge, and
capability to build and maintain respectful relationships across our community is essential. Recent
leadership experience in the senior area of the school is an advantage. We are a digital school with a strong
reputation for creating a respectful and inclusive environment. This is a fully released position with 5
permanent management units attached, as well as 2 fixed term units for 2021.

About Pukekohe Hill School
Pukekohe Hill School is situated on the slopes of Pukekohe Hill approximately 2.5km from the centre of
town. The school is structured into three teams (year 0-2, year 3 & 4, year 5 & 6) with a current roll of
780 students. Hill School itself is set on substantial and attractive grounds, which includes a large number of
mature trees, including a native tree area, gardens, asphalt courts, large outdoor stage and covered learning
area, two playing fields, heated swimming pool, two adventure playgrounds, and a number of fitness
adventure trail modules.

Pukekohe Hill School was officially opened on the 25th May 1952 under the name of Pukekohe Maori
School. The establishment of the school was in response to the concerns about the health of the children
in the local community. The school provided students with warm showers and grew crops to support the
community. In February 1966 the school reopened under the new name of Pukekohe Hill School and
governance of the Auckland Education Board.

Close family connections contribute to the culture of the school which remains focused on positive social
interaction.

   • The school operates 33 classes from New Entrants to Year 6’s.

     look like.
   − Be able to lead whole school initiatives and development.

   − Be a team player with highly effective interpersonal skills who can contribute positively to
     the culture of the school.
   − Have a vision for empowering students with the ownership of their learning and supporting
     teachers to develop their practice.

   − Be a highly effective and organised person with strong communication skills.
   − Possess the personal qualities of enthusiasm, self-motivation, approachability, initiative,
     integrity and reliability.
   − Display empathy for and an awareness of the needs of individuals.
