The Townsville Fashion Festival presented by Escape Travel is searching for designers
to join our team! Whether you've only had a little experience or have designed and
created multiple collections, we want to know!

All designers are invited to take part in the 2018 Townsville Fashion Festival event
week. If you are interested in showcasing your designs, keep reading!

With a new management committee, The Townsville Fashion Festival 2018 is going to
be the biggest and best one yet, with new ideas and creativity being brought to the
festival that hasn't been done before!

Our theme for 2018, Fusion, will be streamed throughout the festival, letting you
explore and use your imagination as to how you perceive it. The word ‘fusion’ comes
from the Latin word fundere, meaning melt. It is the result of joining two or more
things together to form a single entity. In science, ‘fusion’ is the process of merging
atoms together to create energy.

The main goal for the 2018 Townsville Fashion Festival is to be innovative in every
aspect. By implementing and encouraging ‘fusions’ with fabrics, colours, styles, ideas,
technology and manufacture, along with meaningful ‘fusions’ between businesses,
stakeholders, designers, artists, stylists, chefs and retailers, we are confident we can
achieve our goal and execute a highly successful festival. We can't wait to see what
you come up with and look forward to seeing your designs on the Runway!

FASHION WEEK
THE LAUNCH
23rd March 2018
The Townsville Fashion Festival's Launch for 2018 will be held, where designers will
have the opportunity to meet the team and potential cliental of high profile
businesses.

A TASTE OF FUSION
18th May 2018
This year, our function will be held outside Victoria Bridge, with only the best cuisine
and beverages overlooking the water in the evening breeze. Our cocktail event will
showcase some local talent and entertainment.

FUSION ON FLINDERS
20th May 2018
Venture back to Flinders Street, with our Sunday market event. Here's the chance to
show and sell your collection pieces, and deliver some more information about
yourself. And ofcourse, check out other market stalls and visit our local food trucks!

THE RUNWAY + AFTERPARTY
26th May 2018
The main show! Be delighted to see your designs on the catwalk. With the
opportunity to receive models ready for runway, why wouldn't you want to be
involved! Watch your models as they strut down the Runway wearing your designs
for Townsville to see. This event will continue to impress filled with local talent,
delicious food and rewarding beverages. Join us for the after party where our
fashionistas will take the time to meet the designers, hair and makeup and
photography teams, giving you excellent exposure.

COMPETITIONS
DESIGNER EXCELLENCE AWARD
The Townsville Fashion Festival is excited to announce the return of The Designer
Excellence Award presented by The Townsville City Council for 2018. The $2,500
prize has been offered through the Sister City Program for the first time in 2017
with the continued support from TCC for the 2018 festival.

It is a tremendous opportunity for an emerging designer to learn from and be
inspired by a diverse and dynamic culture renowned for ingenuity and rapid
evolution. Applicants will be judged on criteria including innovation and unique
design vision, level of manufacturing and fit as well as potential growth and financial
sustainability.

Please note: Only local designers from Townsville will be eligible to win this competition.

PEOPLES CHOICE AWARD
Peoples Choice Award is to be confirmed.

Trade Ability - We are firm believers in shopping the runway so we want to
give you the opportunity to participate in our Textile by Emerging Designers
store located in Townsville. We also will encourage trade opportunities pre
and post event.
Access to purchase professional photos and video of "The Runway" Event.
3 x Professional photos of your choice of "The Runway" Event.
Use of a model with professional Hair and Make-up
App recognition with click through operation to your label

DESIGNER COSTS
The combination of sponsorship and ticket sales allows Townsville Fashion Festival
to offset the major cost associated with the professional models, hair, makeup,
choreography, set design, back-of-house support, dressers, styling, marketing and
public relations.

The designer can submit their choice of the number of designs they wish to display
with the exception of no less than 4 designs.

         Up to 4 Designs = $250                  8 Designs = $450
               5 Designs = $300                  9 Designs = $500
               6 Designs = $350                  10 Designs = $500
               7 Designs = $400

All designer payments are to be paid in full by 30th April 2018. All designs must be
delivered to Escape Travel, 365 Flinders Street, Townsville 4810 by 7th May.
