Te Aroha’s link to Aussie bushfires

When the Black Saturday
bushfires ripped through Vic-
toria, Australia, in 2009, the
state’s anguish could be felt all
the way in Te Aroha.
   Matamata-Piako District

Making music and charity money

The weather looked like it was
going to be the only letdown at
the Oak City Lodge Charity Jazz

    It was something that had
been on the minds of event

    ‘‘We’ve never watched the

    ‘‘We’ve had a few sleepless

    Luckily while there, with
around 200 festival-goers, the
rain held and the crowd were
tucking into picnics and drinks
as the soft sounds of jazz music
from a live trio wafted across the
scenic Oak Lodge grounds.
Cameron said the event is in
its 12th year – and shared the
secret of its success.
‘‘It’s an easy formula. Keep it
simple,’’ she said.
