What is Metta?
An entrepreneur’s club connecting people, ideas, and resources.
The word Metta comes from an Asian language (pali) used by the
Buddhist community meaning a meeting of like-minded
individuals. It is on this basis, why we do what we do,
connecting!

Our mission is to drive meaningful connections through
introductions, collaborations and a strong community.

Metta is a catalyst for meaningful collaboration and the
furthering of ideas, Metta is the first concept of its kind in the
world.
Tech Scene in Kenya

The great
parts … Give thanks to the Trailblazers who made our country into Silicon
Savannah - Mpesa, Ihub, Cellulant, Twiga Foods, Africa’s Talking etc

High rates of unemployment also sparked innovation. The Kenyan culture
and spirit is more entrepreneurial than other nationalities in the
continent. Hence the famous term Kenyan “hustlers”
Compared to 10 years ago when we replicated the West in innovation
and also a lot of money was available then for this. But some of these
startups didn’t survive e.g Savvy Rider & Kibo. A lot of good sense
The great companies are churning out now - meaning, startups that are creating
parts … solutions that we as Kenya need to now. E.g SafeBoda, Little, Swvl

Kenya has always won and been innovative in manufacturing. Most of our
indigenous and oldest companies are from the FMCG & Manufacturing
scene. As we have been designing and manufacturing products from here
and for us. Hence a lot of intersectionality of industries and innovation
from Agriculture, Supply Chain. E.g Sokowatch, LoriSystems, Hello
            Tractor, Anona
Great to see corporates and governments looking into startups to solve
their inefficiencies other than reinventing the wheel through POCs and
programs. E.g KIEP, Barclays, Visa, Merck - acquired ConnectMed. Also to
The great note that the recent ICT Advisory set up as a response for COVID-19,
parts … majority of them were active players in the entrepreneurial scene.

COVID has created a tech gateway to solve problems. E.g EdTech scene,
            Gumzo etc
The Not
So great 1. Capital isn’t distributed evenly. Funding gap
parts …
           2. Need to train users and market on products
           3. Government risks creating a not-so-conducive environment with
digital tax, hence the need to harmonize and hopefully a StartUp Act
           could come into place.
