EBAC Weekly E-Mail – June 20, 2023
The EBAC weekly email is distributed as part of the EB Community News sent out every Tuesday.

The remaining EBAC General Membership meetings for 2023 will be held on 7/6, 8/3, 9/7, 10/5, 11/2,
and 12/7 at the VFW in Waterford at 7:00 PM. A call in option is available for the board of directors,
commissioners and managers of the EBAC. Contact the EBAC President, via email jcarr@gdeb.com
or at 860-433-1098 for more information or to obtain the meeting call-in numbers.

               EBAC Office is open and is located in Building J189-1
            Hours: Tuesday & Friday 10am – 4pm & Thursday 8am – 2pm
Discounted items can be purchased by EBAC members after verifying membership either by using
the EBAC‘s Off-site policy or by coming by the office during operating hours. Email EBAC@gdeb.com
with your badge number to request tickets or discount codes. The EBAC is unable to do payroll
deductions and only accepts CASH, CHECK OR MONEY ORDERS ONLY made payable to EBAC.
Checks must be from the account of the employee making the purchase.

EBAC Office Hours Changing
The EBAC Office will be closed for vacation beginning Friday June 23rd and I will return to the office
on Thursday July 6th. The EBAC email will be monitored during this time and the EBAC President will
be available for purchases if necessary. As of the week of July 3rd, EBAC Office hours will be
changing to Thursday 8-2 and Friday 10-4 only. We will not be open on Tuesdays for the summer.

EBAC Webmaster Looking for a new Webmaster
The EBAC is searching for a new Webmaster. Responsibilities include:
     Uploading site files provided by individual EBAC club web reporters.
     Maintaining the main EBAC website.
          o Uploading weekly updates to the EBAC newsletter.
          o Uploading intermittent updates to the flyers list and discounts pages.
          o Posting photos as required.
     Updating EBAC club pages without a dedicated web reporter based on input from the
       commissioner.
     Monitoring content submitted for EBAC club pages prior to updating. Questionable content will
       not be posted.
Knowledge of HTML/CSS is required. This volunteer position includes an annual, end of year,
compensatory stipend. Please contact Kyle Rupert (krupert@gdeb.com) and Jon Carr

EBAC Tabletop Gaming Club
The next role-play event is scheduled for Friday, June 30th from 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM at the Citadel
Game Cellar in Groton, CT. This month we have Call of Cthulhu and Wanderhome! Sign-ups are
available upon arrival. The EBAC Tabletop Gaming Club includes board games, roleplaying games,
trading card games, and miniature gaming. Please contact Rachel Saliga (rsaliga@gdeb.com) with
any questions and/or if you would like to be a part of this club!
EBAC Floor Hockey
EBAC floor hockey has concluded its season. Congratulations to Team Yellow for winning the
Championship. Details about the Banquet will be sent out once a suitable location and time is

EBAC Soccer
We regularly meet up for casual pick-up games on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5 pm at
Poquonnock Plains Park, barring any weather related or field availability issues. We’ve had a steady
stream of new members! EBAC Soccer does not currently have any official teams/leagues, however,
if you would like information or are interested in joining one of the local indoor and outdoor leagues
you can reach out to Abdullah. To stay up to date on latest pickup times and other general
information, please reach out to one of the co-commissioners through their contact information listed
below to join our WhatsApp group. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the field!

EBAC Disc Golf League
The EBAC disc golf league is over one half of the way through the 2023 season. The regular season
goes until July. The upcoming schedule includes a “travel” round for the week of 6/18 at Davis Forest,
and the following week is back to Willow Valley.

the league on the EB forum for more details.

EBAC Rock Climbing Club
The 2023 climbing season has started. The goals of the climbing club are to provide a safe and
friendly atmosphere to learn how to climb outside, and to provide a way to meet other climbers. New
climbers are taught how to safely manage the ropes while climbing and belaying. More experienced
climbers can learn how to safely set up climbing anchors as well as other valuable skills. The club has
gear that is available to use for its members including: static and dynamic ropes, harnesses, shoes,
helmets, belay devices, and bouldering crash pads. The club also has access to discount day passes
to Central Rock Gym and Rock Spot locations, as well as discounted memberships to Central Rock
Gym. Club dues are $20 annually, January-January, which get you access to the club gear, club
outings, as well as the ability to buy club gym passes. Regular outings are set up at the various local
areas including Lantern Hill, Pine Ledge, Lincoln Woods, Ross Rocks, and Ragged Mountain. Larger
trips are also organized through the club, including the annual trip to Rumney Rocks in Rumney, NH
for a great autumn weekend of sport climbing. Climb on!

Excursion Club
The EBAC is looking for a dedicated volunteer to plan, organize and coordinate discounts to a variety
of area shows and concerts. If interested, please contact the EBAC Office or the EBAC President.

EBAC Hiking Club
Our weekly local Friday Night Hikes to have begun as well as backpacking trips, camping/hiking trips,
and weekend day hikes. Activities the club has done in the past and hopefully will continue this year
include: local hikes, hikes in the greater New England Area, beginner backpacking classes,
backpacking trips, and camping/hiking trips to Acadia Maine & the NH White Mountains. Please
contact the Hiking Club Commissioner Christine Elliott (cmelliott@gdeb.com) if you would like more
info about the Hiking Club.

EBAC Cycling Club – Road Cycling
The road cycling club is back up and running for the 2023 season! The rides start from Groton, New
London, or Mystic from week to week and will start at around 25-30 miles. There are typically two
groups, one with an average speed of about 15 mph and the other around 19 mph. Contact Tyler
Carbone, tcarbone@gdeb.com for additional details.

EBAC Cycling Club – Mountain Bike
The mountain bike group is now starting at 4:00 or 4:30 PM on Thursdays from Bluff Point in Groton
or Woody Hill in Westerly. Riders are asked to be comfortable with riding single track trails for 1.5
hours with stops. We typically do 8 – 10 miles with opportunities to bail out early. Contact David
Gudbrandsen (dgudbran@gdeb.com) to get on the email list for weekly ride location/time.
There has been some interest in a weekly offroad/gravel/fitness ride that does not involve technical
singletrack trails, day and time TBD. If you’re interested in participating in a weekly fitness/trail ride
with coworkers at Bluff Point and Haley Farm contact David Gudbrandsen (dgudbran@gdeb.com).

EBAC Archery Club
Join us every Wednesday night from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at The Pachaug Outdoor Club for an
open shoot. We have bows for you to use if you don’t have one. Come out and meet wonderful

EBAC Discounts – Available only to EBAC members
Please provide your EB badge number with your request in support of membership validation. You
must be an EBAC member to take advantage of our discount offers.

EBAC Discounts – Misquamicut Drive-In
Take a carload to the beach and watch a drive-in movie! Located on Atlantic Avenue in Westerly,
come and enjoy new and classic movies like Jaws, To Gun: Maverick, Jurassic World Dominion and
more! Shows will be available Fridays and Saturdays and some Sundays in May and June but
beginning in July through August, shows will be 5 days a week. Tickets are only $10 and available to

EBAC Discounts - Lyme Shores Racquet Club Multi-Sport Summer Camp
Check out the new Summer Camp Program offer from Lyme Shores Racquet Club! A multi-sport
summer camp open to kids ages 7-16 from June 19th to August 25th. Activities offered vary from
water games, swimming, ultimate Frisbee, basketball, and more. There is also a new state of the art
ropes course with a 200-foot zip-line! They are offering full day, full week, half day, full week and
single day options. Please contact the EBAC Office for Discount information. Don’t forget to include

EBAC Discounts – Mystified Escape Room
Challenge yourself and experience a live-action 60-minute adventure game! You and a team of
players will use clues to solve puzzles and escape before time runs out. Escape rooms currently
being offered; Keeper of the Light where you and a team will venture to the Ledge Lighthouse to
activate the light before a monster hurricane hits Connecticut, The Mystic’s Ritual where you have
been taken captive by a sea witch on the coast of Mystic and must escape before she can perform
her ritual! You will be locked in her sea cave unless you can escape before she returns. Or The
Curtain Call, a cabaret lady is nowhere to be found and you must find the leading lady of the show

EBAC Discounts – The Adventure Park at Storrs, CT
Get in touch with your adventurous side at The Adventure Park at Storrs! Trails made up of platforms
and ziplines are linked together to form an adventure through the forest. No matter your skill level
there are levels suitable for all. As climbers progress through the difficulty levels, the bridges require
more balance, agility, focus, and arm strength. There is no ‘correct’ way of crossing the bridges. Each
bridge calls upon the climber to find his or her own mix of strategy, balance, and strength. Your time
in the park is what you make of it and you do not have to be in expert to make it through the
trails. EBAC members can enjoy everything the Adventure Park has to offer from the Aerial
Adventure Park, Glow in the Park (zipline and climb to lights and music at night), Axe throwing and an
Adventure Playground for younger kids! Also available on Fridays are Firepit Fridays which includes
