About Us
Your Host and Chef, Sergio Rifugio, is Italian born but has spent 8 years in
Southern Spain, in the Marbella area working in a variety of top class
establishments including the running of the Food & Beverage department for the
4 different luxury complexes of the Macdonald Hotels & Resort in the South of
Spain. He then created and managed Cooking Holiday Spain, the first company
specialising in private & personalised Gastronomic and winery activities in Costa
del Sol.
He joined the Yacht Club Cala d'Or as General Manager in early 2009 and has
recently launched his latest venture, the all new Cooking Holidays.
With Sergio’s passion for all types of cooking and the Mediterranean, it is sure to rub
off on you and you will find yourself delighting in creating spectacular dishes and
sharing the Mallorcan culture alongside friends.
Your cooking sessions will teach you how to
prepare and cook a variety of different dishes,
as well as the opportunity to savour your dishes afterwards along with some of the
regions flavoursome wines.
Our daily, four and six day courses includes a variety of interesting excursions
and outings to local produce markets including an excursion to a local olive oil
farm and a fantastic day trip to a winery with local wine and cheese tasting
sessions.

Whether you are looking for a half day starter course to test your cooking skills or a luxury 7 day holiday including a
wealth of information and daily hands on cooking experience, exciting excursions, a variety of al fresco dining
options as well as unwind time at the Yacht Club, we have something for everyone.
The next few pages details further information on our courses. Please feel free though to ask if there is something
you wish to try out and don’t see in our programme, where possible, we are happy to adapt our courses to suit.
7 NIGHT/6 DAY GOURMET MEDITERRANEAN EXPERIENCE
Day 1 - Sunday
Arrive at Palma Airport and transfer to your chosen hotel. After settling in you will be welcomed at the
Yacht Club Cala d’Or for drinks and dinner.
Day 2 - Monday
After a leisurely breakfast at your hotel, you will be taken to the Yacht Club for your first cooking class.
Discover the secret of traditional Mediterranean Cuisine from our professional chefs. You will learn how to
make four accompanying dishes with hands on experience. Enjoy the fruits of your labour with a glass of
wine or two for lunch.
In the afternoon after your cooking experience, you will be taken to a local Cheese Factory to discover the
Spanish art of cheese making and sample some delicious local cheeses.
Dinner will be served at the Yacht Club.
Day 3 - Tuesday
You will be picked up from your hotel this morning to journey through the mountains to a famous winery.
Here you will be shown the art of wine making and learn the history of these stunning vineyards as well as
being offered a selection of vintage wines to sample yourself.
After enjoying a relaxed lunch in one of the nearby village restaurants we will journey to our next
destination, the Olive Farm. Through winding roads and past scenic villages, the journey itself will capture
you. On arrival at the Olive Farm you will be treated to a tour of this ancient Mill and plantation, learning
about the process of making olive oil, the history of the land as well as sampling their finest olive oil.
The afternoon is yours to enjoy, whether you relax around the Yacht Club pool or one of the stunning local
beaches perhaps.
You are invited to dine at the Yacht Club.

7 NIGHT/6 DAY GOURMET MEDITERRANEAN EXPERIENCE CONT/D
Day 4 - Wednesday
Visit a bustling local street market in the picturesque town of Santanyi. See the fresh produce, talk to local
suppliers and pick ingredients in preparation for your afternoon’s class. En route back to the Yacht Club
you will stop off at the stunning Consolacio Monastery in S’Alqueria Blanca with wonderful views on the
surrounding countryside
Then its back to the Yacht Club for your Tapas Cooking Class. We will show you how to prepare five
difference Gourmet Tapas in which you will have a hands on experience. Afterwards everyone will enjoy
these dishes accompanied by some of our most popular red and white wines.
The afternoon can be used for a shopping trip to the local town. If you are keen boater, we can arrange for
yourself and your group to go on a private boat excursion from the marina (this would be an extra cost).
A relaxed and informal dinner in the gardens of the Yacht Club awaits your return…
Day 5 - Thursday
We have a fantastic day ahead. Its time to visit the capital of Mallorca, Palma. We will be taking you to
Palma Market for a spot of shopping and food tasting as well as a tour of the famous Palma Cathedral.
Lunch will be in a local restaurant and then its on board the famous train to Soller (a must for all visitors to
Mallorca) for an exciting ride through the Mallorcan mountains to the village of Soller.
After enjoying the delights of Soller you will return to Cala d’Or via Valldemossa, one of the prettiest
villages in Mallorca and surrounded by forested hills and lush countryside. Dinner will be served at the
Yacht Club.
Day 6 – Friday
Your final full day will not disappoint. Join us at the Yacht Club for a Spanish Cooking Class. Learn some
traditional Spanish dishes with our friendly chef and as always, you get to eat all that you cook!!
Your afternoon can be spent enjoying the infinity pool, steam room, sauna, relaxing in the gardens at the
Yacht Club or strolling round Cala d’or town to do some last minute shopping for friends and family.
Your last night is a SURPRISE dinner………!!!
Day 7 - Saturday
After a final breakfast at your hotel, we will transfer you to Palma Airport and say our tearful farewells but
rest assured, we KNOW once you see Mallorca, you’ll be back………………

Our Cooking Courses
4 DAY GOURMET MEDITERRANEAN EXPERIENCE
Arrival Day
Arrive at Palma Airport and transfer to your chosen hotel. After settling in you will be welcomed at the Yacht Club Cala d’Or for drinks and dinner.
Day 1
You will be in the kitchen this morning learning the art of tapas cooking. Try making several different dishes and enjoy your creations for lunch. Late
afternoon can be used for a shopping trip to the local town. If you are keen boater, we can arrange for you to go on a private boat excursion from the
marina (at extra cost). You are invited to dine in the delicious Tapas Restaurant at the Yacht Club (subject to season opening times).
Day 2
Visit a bustling local market with your host, Sergio. Talk to local suppliers and pick your fresh ingredients. Enjoy an afternoon of hands on cooking
experience, creating a delicious 4 course Mediterranean feast, including learning the art of great fresh pasta. Sample the fruits of your labour while
you cook and then relax on the pool terrace and have a chilled local wine or cava. This evening we will take you out to a local Mallorcan restaurant
for some traditional cuisine.
Day 3
Enjoy a scenic drive across the island, first stopping at the beautiful San Salvador Monastery and then on to the Manacor area to visit the Olive Oil
Farm and Mill of Aubocassa (Albocasser) farm. Lunch will be included in the trip. In the afternoon its back to the Yacht Club to learn how to make
three delicious desserts. Then to leave you wondering……….your last night’s entertainment is a surprise!!
Day 4
After a farewell breakfast to set you up on your journey home, the rest of the morning is yours to enjoy, whether you relax around the Yacht Club
pool or explore the local area before we drive you back to Palma Airport and bid you farewell.
ITALIAN COOKING COURSE

Discover the secret of traditional Mediterranean Cuisine and an opportunity to show your friends and family new gourmet dishes
from our professional chefs. In this class you will learn how to make 4 accompanying dishes with hands on experience and also gain
a greater understanding of how to use basic ingredients such as olive oil and spices the Spanish and Mediterranean way.
This ½ day excursion will begin at 10:00h. We will meet up and go to a local market where you will get a better understanding of
the local produce and culinary customs of Mallorca and the Spanish. We will then select the products we will be using in this
afternoon’s cooking class and then its on to the Yacht Club Cala d’Or.
Our chef will show you how to prepare the 4 course gourmet meal with the ingredients you have selected using traditional
Mediterranean cooking techniques and traditions for every dish. We aim to transform you into a true Mediterranean Chef!
