Dear Madam / Sir,

We are all living under somewhat unusual conditions these days. Every country as well as
every individual is doing its best to handle the covid-19 pandemic. The organizing committee of
the 5th ESTAD hope that you feel secure and well. We are steaming full speed ahead with the
planning for the conference and hopefully the conditions will be much improved by June next
year when we look forward to meeting you in Stockholm.

The Swedish steel industry and the Swedish steel producers’ association, Jernkontoret, have
agreed on a long-term vision, “Steel shapes a better future”. Every day the steel industry’s
products contribute to worldwide society. Please join us in Stockholm to discuss how the steel
industry can become an even more active participant in the ongoing shift to a sustainable
society. We are sure that you share our conviction that scientific discovery and innovation are
the basic tools to fulfill those intentions.

A prerequisite for this development is the exchange of ideas that takes place during
networking with clients, partners, researchers and suppliers.

ESTAD is established as an important meeting point for steel producers, steel users, plant
suppliers, research institutes, as well as universities from all around the world. The breadth of
contribution guarantees that you will acquire the latest information on new ideas and
developments as well as on the state-of-the-art in the production and applications of iron and
steel.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The conference covers five days (Mon-Fri). Monday afternoon is dedicated to plenary sessions
and a get-together party with the Swedish steel industry’s vision “Steel shapes a better future”
as the guiding star. Environmental, trade, sustainability as well as new technologies issues
will be discussed.

Tuesday to Thursday is dedicated to technical presentations in up to eight parallel sessions. On
Wednesday evening we invite you to the conference dinner (separate fee) at Stockholm City
Hall.

Friday is dedicated to company visits. The options include an exclusive visit to SSAB in Luleå
and the new HYBRIT pilot plant. More details about the company visits will be presented later
this year.

The exhibition will be open from Monday afternoon until lunchtime on Thursday.

FOCUS
The Conference will focus on all technical aspects within the following six main fields:

   -    Ironmaking
   -    Steelmaking
   -    Rolling and forging
   -    Steel materials and their application, powder metallurgy and surface technologies
   -    Industry 4.0
   -    Environment and energy

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS
All papers must be submitted online. Please visit www.estad2021.com/Call-for-papers
section. There you will find an easy to use online submission form. You can submit two types of
papers:
   1. Full oral presentation (20min)
   2. Short oral presentation (5 min)
All abstracts will be evaluated in terms of the following criteria:
   1.   Scientific value
   2.   Productivity and efficiency achievements
   3.   Quality achievements
   4.   Other major improvements

The conference language is English.

Deadline
Please submit your abstract by October 15th, 2020 at the very latest. All abstracts will be
evaluated by experts within the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).
