Zamagni Galleria d'Arte: Backup
From Friday 3 October to Sunday 8 November 2020
Exhibition by Svetislav Martinovic and Francesco Zavatta
The BACKUP exhibition, by Svetislav Martinovic and Francesco Zavatta, opens on Saturday 3 October at 6.00
pm, at the ZAMAGNI art gallery in Rimini.
Their work is united by formal issues that can be traced back to a single geometric element: the line. Through
painting, in oil for Zavatta and watercolor for Martinovic, the trace of the line is filled with references and memories
stored in this strange historical period by the two artists. This is BACKUP, literally a safety copy of memories,
made during the lockdown on canvas, on board and on paper.
In the urban environment of Martinovic, an artist of Macedonian origin whose work is strongly linked to his
architectural studies, the vertical, horizontal and crossed lines arise above the rooftops, in a dark and shadow-
filled atmosphere.
The colors of Zavatta, with the intense Prussian blue, are instead the sea of ??Rimini, his city, where the presence
of the 'briccola', and the ropes tied to it, are lines that become reference points for navigation and therefore for
humans.
