CHALLENGE FAMILY is one of the fastest growing triathlon race series in the world,
with 41 full and middle distances in 21 different countries. CHALLENGE FAMILY
redefines the triathlon sport on a global scale. After impressive execution and
positive feedback, x-bionic® sphere proved to be the right venue for the next years
of THE CHAMPIONSHIP.

The main triathlon event on May 31st, 2020, for which triathletes have to qualify, media value
comprises a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bike ride and a 21.1 km run. The general 60
public can enter side events – the Olympic, Sprint or TryAthlon. nations
As The Championship is open only to athletes that have been qualified, Challenge
Family has received a lot of requests of athletes who’d like to participate in the
Slovakian based race. Requests came from local triathletes: as The Championship

replaced the Middle Distance of Challenge Samorin, Slovakian athletes had no athletes
opportunity any longer to qualify for The Championship in their own country.
Next to that there are also athletes traveling with friends (who have been qualified),
and also would really like to race at the unique resort of the x-bionic® sphere. To

accommodate these people and doing right to the principle of an ‘inclusive event’,
Challenge Family decided to add an open Middle Distance series to the event 150,000
schedule for a limited 175 participants including relays. The Open series will in prize money
count as a qualifying Challenge race as well, meaning top-3 age groupers will
be rewarded with a slot for The Championship 2021.
