A SPECIAL SHOUTOUT Painting by resident Stella Szemela. Creativity is Brewing T H E F O U N T A I N S AT B O C A C I E G A B AY Every semester, Watermark University brings together residents, associates, family members and community volunteers in the spirit of learning, teaching and growing, together. Last year, for example, more than 40 residents of The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay got together and brewed their own craft beer. It happened during a six-week Watermark University class called Home Brewing 101, led by Dining Services Director Chris Wojewnik and assisted by Community Life Director Melissa Krysh. Participants learned about the history of home brewing, boiled and steeped the hops, bottled the fermented elixir and labeled their finished product. The attractive label was designed and painted by resident Stella Szemela, inspired by her waterfront view. At the semester’s end, they toasted to their successful learning adventure and new friendships formed. Are you inspired to learn about or share an interest or passion?
