STRING EASTER EGGS

MATERIALS:
     ■ Embroidery Floss ■ Water balloons ■ Balloon pumper-upper ■ Elmer’s glue
DIRECTIONS
Blow up some balloons with the pumper-upper, because your face will explode if you try to blow these
suckers up with your breath.

Set up the ingenious drying rack I devised for the paper mache pencils project. Or you can probably just
set the eggs on wax paper aer you wrap them, but it’s not nearly as fun as clothes pinning them to a
cooling rack.

Cut arm-lengths of embroidery floss- I used about 6-8 for each balloon. Experiment with pung
different colors together, or use one color per balloon.

Mix up a bowl of glue with enough water (add a small amount at a me), to make it just runny enough
to soak into the embroidery thread.

Take a piece of your thread and dunk it into the bowl of water glue, pressing it in all the way so that the
whole length of the thread gets nice and saturated. Grab an end of the thread and wring it out between
your fingers as you pull it from the bowl.

Now wrap it around the balloon, and follow suit with each piece of thread unl it looks good to you.

I clipped the balloons to the drying rack with a clothes pin – just make sure they aren’t touching each
other, and won’t be knocked over.

Aer a few hours, your string will have dried and you can pop the balloons. We had a very fun family few
moments poking tacks into the balloons and watching/listening to them as they slowly deflated. Pull the
balloons out with your fingers or tweezers.

Now is the me to decide if you want to display your string eggs in a lovely bowl, or e embroidery
thread to them and hang them from your Ikea light. I was so tempted to e them to a ceiling fan.

EASTER SCAVENGER HUNT
Print, cut out, and hide the clues! The clues can be hidden as-is or they can be tucked inside of a plasc Easter egg. For
mulple kids, I assign each child their own specific color of Easter eggs, mix up the order of the clues, and make sure the
kids know to only pick up eggs in their own color and leave the rest. Each child sll receives the last clue as their last clue,
so they are usually all racing to the final prize desnaon at the same me.

   Step 3
Glue the inside of the bunny's ear onto the child's handprints. Glue the handprint to the
back of the bunny's head, poinng upward.

   Step 4
Cut out two small ovals to act as the bunny's cheeks. Glue them slightly below the eyes.

   Step 5
Glue the pink pom pom nose onto the bunny's face with a glue dot.

   Step 6
Cut the 3 white pipe cleaners in half then twist them together in the center. Glue them
