Sales Tax Rate Change

Effective October 1, 2020 the City of Hays sales tax rate will increase to 8.75%.

So that sales tax is accurately calculated for receipts in September, we request that Cash Sales for
September receipts be submitted in Workday and hand delivered to Student Fiscal Services by noon,
Thursday, October 1, in order to be recorded with the current tax rate.

Do NOT initiate Cash Sales in Workday for October receipts until Friday, October 2, 2020, as the new tax
rate will not be updated in Workday until the close of business on October 1 st. Any cash sales initiated on
October 2nd and after will be calculated with the new rate.

We will also update the Extended Amount Worksheet incorporating the new sales tax rate. It will replace
the existing worksheet within the Workday Worklet and on our website on the afternoon of October 1. If
you saved a copy of the extended amount worksheet on your computer, you will need to save a new copy
on October 2nd.

The new City of Hays tax rate change affects all sales within the City of Hays, as defined by the Kansas
Department of Revenue. Please continue to use the Kansas Department of Revenue Address Tax Rate
lookup site to obtain the sales tax rates for destination sales.

If you are an advisor to a student organization, please forward this information on to the appropriate
person(s) in charge of preparing deposits.

Please contact our office at (785) 628-5251 if you have any further questions regarding this transition.

The flu vaccine is offered at no cost to all FHSU students. However, most insurance plans pay for the
vaccine. The Student Health Center may seek reimbursement for the vaccine from insurance plans to
offset the significant cost of the vaccines.

University employees should email a photo of the front of their insurance card to healthcenter@fhsu.edu
so an insurance claim can be submitted. To receive a text message reminder one hour before your
appointment, complete the Opt-in for Texting form on the landing page of the patient portal.

Because of the pandemic, it is very important for everyone to receive a flu vaccine this year. If you are
unable to attend one of the seven Flu Clinic events on campus, flu shots will be available at certain times
in the Student Health Center. You can also participate in the flu shot drive-thru at HaysMed on September
27th, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.

The Centers for Disease Control provides comprehensive information about the importance of getting a
flu vaccine. The Vaccine Information Statement is also available for review prior to receiving your

Thursday, September 24 at 12:00-3:00pm
Zoom Webinar
Register: http://bit.ly/TILTedSept24

Moving home from college with less than a week’s notice... losing a job due to a business’s shutdown...
learning content online that is normally delivered face-to-face... these challenges alone are enough to test
a student’s resilience. Facing them during an unprecedented pandemic can intensify feelings of loss,
helplessness, and anxiety. During this mini-conference, learn strategies for supporting students, the
process of emotional and psychological responses to crisis, and how to keep students on track with
retention.

TILTed Tech is a series of mini-conferences to inspire teaching, technology and scholarship. The event
series is a collaboration between Forsyth Library, Teaching Innovation and Learning Technologies, and
Technology Services.

Tiger Team Application Open!

Come become a champion for student success!
The Tiger Team is an energetic and driven group of students who volunteer to be leaders, mentors, and
facilitators for our orientation and diversity programs. Members of this team are selected through an
application and interview process. By joining Tiger Team students will get the opportunity to receive
leadership training, leadership experience on the FHSU campus, volunteer hours, and gain skills for your
future career.

Tiger Team Leaders must have and maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA. We believe Tiger Team members are
students first and foremost, yet we understand unexpected events occur and will work with students on an
individual basis to be on the team and still strive for academic success.

If interested please fill out the form on TigerLink. Deadline is September 22. For more information
contact e_irigoyenaguirre.se@fhsu.edu.
