Freycinet Challenge 2018 - Race Information Booklet - 4adventure - Ben, Row, Mark & Lou
Last year, 4adventure (Ben, Row, Mark & Lou) took over the reins of the
Freycinet Challenge from original creator and organiser of 16 years, Tim
Saul.
We enjoyed the challenging learning curve, reviewing feedback from
past entrants, making changes and moving forth. We will continue to try
and develop the event each year.
We are incredibly happy to partner on with MOO Brew. Our leg sponsors
Next Level Kayak, The Running Edge, AvantiPlus Launceston & Bike
Ride Hobart continue their fantastic support.
And keep an eye out for tasty foodstuffs from Alps & Amici, Coles Bay
Convenience and KOOEE! Please show your appreciation by supporting
those that enable us to support you!
We have moved the Challenge forward a week to sit in the middle of
school holidays to provide an opportunity for everyone to hang around
on Sunday, rest, relax and review what we hope will be a fantastic and
challenging weekend.
Please take a moment to read through our Race Information Booklet to
ensure you are informed and prepared for all that the Challenge may
throw at you!

DON’T FORGET DAYLIGHT SAVINGS ON SUNDAY
As Mark can attest, arriving late and chasing everyone in the paddle is
not particularly fun!

TRANSITION AREA

The transition area will be clearly marked out and is open to competitors ONLY. Racks are
not numbered, chose your position.

MEDICAL

Medical assistance will be available from Hamish and his crew at Safetas as well as our
invaluable SES Volunteers on Course. Please ask for medical help if you have an issue. Please
note - if you are transported by ambulance you could be required to meet costs involved
unless you are covered by an appropriate fund. Any aid given by race medical personnel is
permissible and will not lead to disqualification.

OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE

Outside assistance may be given by your support crew within transition and throughout this
endurance event providing it does not give the competitor an unfair advantage which is
discretionary of the Race Director and 4adventure crew.
TIMING

The Freycinet Challenge will be timed by a manual timing system based around your
individual race number. Your responsibilities as a competitor include:

When you register you will be issued with a race number, this needs to be displayed on the
front of your shirt/race kit and also on the front of MTB.

You need to wear the race bib and it must be visible at all times while racing. You must leave
the race bib on until you finish the entire race course. It is essential for timing.

Please call out your race number as you pass the timing station to help our crew to correctly
identify you.

It is imperative that you advise race officials in the event you withdraw from the race at any
time. It is essential for us to know where you are on the course at all times for your safety
and our ability to post accurate official results post-race.
