WELCOME A very warm welcome to the 2019 Ball, the 13th Anniversary of the ball. The Ball has become the highlight in Cork’s social calendar, and heralds the start of the Christmas season for many. I would like to thank all of you for your presence here this evening and for your support for Marymount Hospice throughout the last year. There are few institutions in Cork that hold such a special place in the hearts of its people, and indeed the wider community, than Marymount. It is a tribute to the extraordinary impact that the Hospice has, that this evening’s event has become the must-attend event of the year. The outstanding work of the hospice over many years, the provision of specialist services and the genuine and unstinting care for patients and their families in a dignified environment, reminds us of how much we owe to Marymount for helping to bring people together and building our sense of community here in Cork. I would like to thank all of the sponsors for their tremendous support that makes this event possible and such a success. I would also like to acknowledge the hard-working committee who work tirelessly to make this event possible year after year. 2019 Marymount Hospice Ball
I would like to extend a warm welcome to all here tonight to enjoy
our annual Hospice Ball. I would like to express my sincere gratitude
to the Marymount Hospice Ball Committee for months of work, which
has brought us together to this wonderful event. The Committee give
selflessly of their time and commitment in order to raise much-needed
funds for Marymount and it is simply invaluable. I would also like to
thank the Ball’s sponsors for their enormous generosity, which helps to
make this event so successful.
In 2019, Marymount officially launched our new Strategic Plan
2019 – 2025 to guide us into the future. Our strategy involves some
important and ambitious goals including investment in IT systems,
growth in services especially paediatric palliative care provision, and
the development of a world class Education and Research Institute for
Palliative Care.
There is an inherent determination of all involved with Marymount
to provide high quality clinical, psychosocial and spiritual care to
all our service users. We are now a leading hospice internationally
underpinned by robust research and education. With vital financial
support and fundraising endeavours, we will achieve our ambitions
enabling more people to access our services. Tonight your presence
and generosity helps us to continue this important work.
I wish you all a very enjoyable, fun filled evening and on behalf of the
Board of Directors, the Executive team, the staff, residents, patients and
volunteers I wish you all a very peaceful Christmas and a prosperous
New Year.
