Dear Bishop Fenwick Family and Friends, Good evening Fenwick Families! Thank you for supporting the 2019 Faith in Fenwick Auction. This delightful event is the school’s largest social and philanthropic activity of the year. The proceeds of the auction enable Fenwick to sustain, strengthen, and expand academic and extra-curricular opportunities that impact all of our students. We rely on the involvement and patronage of parents, trustees, alumni, faculty and staff, and friends to assist us in offering the highest quality education. Tonight’s celebration allows us to commemorate the proud legacy of Bishop Fenwick High School. Founded in 1959, Fenwick cherishes a distinctive tradition that has been cultivated by our highly committed faculty and staff, enlivened by our generous parents and alumni, and imparted into our gifted and enthusiastic students. Over 585 young men and women of diverse faiths, cultures, and interests are provided with a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment that fosters spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and social growth. I am so grateful to everyone who helped make our auction possible. Joan Harrington ’89 O’Hare P’19, ’21 and Kristen Prodanas ’89 Clark ’18, ’20 have assembled and chaired an amazing committee overseen by our dedicated Development Office staff. Their tireless and enthusiastic efforts have ensured an entertaining and unforgettable evening. Special thanks are extended to this year’s auction sponsors, underwriters, item donors, volunteers, and attendees. The Faith in Fenwick Auction would not be possible without you and your generous consideration. Following last year’s highly successful auction, which raised over $100,000 that included significant funding for auditorium improvements, I anticipate an even more successful event this year. Auction Committee and VolunteersBishop Fenwick High School Auction Terms and Conditions Registration: Please stop at registration to pick up your auction booklet, bidder number and name tag. Keep your bidder number with you at all times. You will use this number for all your auction purchases. Valid bids are only possible with this number. Silent Auction: Silent Auction begins at 5:30 PM. All silent auction items will have a bid sheet with pre-set amounts. Write your bidder number next to the pre-set increment amounts. Subsequent bids do not have to be made in sequential order. You may jump to a higher bid amount if you choose, remembering the highest bid amount prevails. Bid as often as you like on each item. NOTE: Only pre-set bid amounts will be considered binding. Some bid sheets indicate there is a Guaranteed Bid Amount. To win that particular item, write your number in the space provided. Otherwise, the highest bidder at the time of closing will be awarded the item. Bids written after the announcement of the closing of the table will not be valid. The Silent Auction will be closed in sections, beginning at approximately 7:00 PM. Items won will be available after payment has been made to the Auction Bookkeeper at the end of the evening. All sales are final. Live Auction: Live auction will begin at approximately 7:30 PM. When bidding, raise your bidder number toward the auctioneer. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the purchaser. In the event of a dispute between bidders, the auctioneer will have absolute discretion as to the identification of the successful bidder. Again, all sales are final! All winning bids will be recorded on your receipt, which will be tabulated through the evening by the Auction Bookkeeper. Payment: Please proceed to the check-out area where payment may be made by Master Card, Visa, Discover, American Express, cash or by check payable to Bishop Fenwick High School. It is important that you check out and receive your itemized receipt on Auction Night if you have bid on any items (you may be unaware that you have won) or have used your bidder number to make purchases. All auction items for which you have successfully bid upon or purchased must be paid by evening’s end. Upon pay- ment to the Auction Bookkeeper you will receive an invoice reflecting your payment. To further support Bishop Fenwick High School’s “Faith in Fenwick” a service premium of 5% will be added to each bidder’s receipt at the time of checkout which pays for the Auction Consulting and other related fees. Thank you for your support! Item Collection: Congratulations on being the winning bidder. A check-out ambassador will assist you to collect your item(s). Time Limit: All gift certificates and services should be claimed within one calendar year unless another date is indicated on your certificate. Please contact the donor before March 20, 2020, to indicate your intent to use your certificate. Disclaimer: The Faith in Fenwick Committee (“Committee”) has attempted to provide accurate and thorough descriptions for all items being auctioned. Most of the descriptions which the Committee has provided for the auc- tion items have been obtained from the donors. All participants, including donors and purchasers, are instructed to ob- tain independent tax advice from a professional concerning the appropriate tax treatment for any item donated or purchased at this auction, including, without limitation, all valuation issues. As a general rule, the amount of any successful bid, claimed to be tax deductible, must exceed the estimated value of the item ascribed by the donor. All resort and private vacation homes are offered to families, to adults or to minors accompanied by adults.
