About your Tour

ANZAC Day 2015 Ballot
The Turkish, Australia and New Zealand governments have put in place a ballot that will restrict access
to ANZAC Cove on 25th April 2015 to a total of 10,000 people, 8,000 Australians and 2,000 New
Zealanders. Ballot entry must be done on an individual basis and will not take into account groups
travelling together, therefore being unsuitable for school groups taking in the centenary.

The Tour:
The tour has been designed around the historic 100 year anniversary of the Battle of Gallipoli. Due to
the ballot system instituted for this event, the itinerary is designed so that ANZAC Day will be
commemorated at the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux as well as exploring the
battlefields of the Western Front. The tour will then travel to Turkey and explore the Gallipoli peninsula
and its historic sights.

The tour will deliver a unique educational experience with a balance of tourist and sightseeing
opportunities.

Destinations:
The itinerary designed visits Belgium, France and Turkey, taking in some of the most significant battles
of World War I and in particular Australia’s involvement in the Great War. The itinerary also takes in the
wonderful cities of Paris and Istanbul, with both full of history, culture and sights.

Educational Focus:
The tour allows the group to visit some of World War I’s most significant sites, accompanied by local
guides who will lead you on your tour of the battlefields, educate the group on the history of the sites
as well as the stories of those who fought and sacrificed on them. The tour will take in the following
sites, museums and memorials; Passchendaele Battlefield, Tyne Cot Cemetery, Langemarck German
Cemetery, Hill 60, Caterpillar Crater, Buttes Cemetery, Messines Ridge, VC Corner, Australian Memorial
Park, Pheasant Wood Cemetery, Thiepval Memorial, Australian National Memorial (Villers-Bretonneux),
Adelaide Cemetery, Hamel Memorial, La Boiselle, Lochnagar Crater, Kabatepe Museum, ANZAC Cove
Ari Burnu Cemetery, Shell Green Cemetery, Lone Pine Cemetery, Walkers Ridge Cemetery,
Beach Cemetery, Shrapnel Valley, Plugges Plateau, Lone Pine Cemetery, Walkers Ridge, The Nek,
Chunuk Bair, Turkish 57th Infantry Memorial, 4th Battalion Cemetery, Cape Helles Turkish Memorial,
And Canakkale Naval Museum.

Sightseeing:
In addition to the historical sites the group will visit, the tour will take in the following sights in Paris;
Arc de Triomphe, Champs de Elysee, Eiffel Tower, Musee Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral. You will also
have the opportunity to visit the Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, Dolmabache Palace,
Basilica of St Sophia, Grand Bazaar and a cruise on the Bosporus.
