                     Guidelines for Spring 2021
               International Undergraduates Admitted

Ⅰ.The Letter of Acceptance for Printing
Ⅰ-1. When: ONLY available from November 27, 17:00 to December 3, 16:00 2020
             (Korean local time)
Ⅰ-2. Where: The Office of International Affairs website (http://oia.korea.ac.kr)
- You can download the Letter of Acceptance during the designated period only.
- NO acceptance letter will be issued or sent to students. It is the student’s responsibility
  to either print/save or make a request for the letter of acceptance during the specified period.
- English version of the acceptance letter is available by email request within the designated
  period only. (admission@korea.ac.kr)

Ⅱ. Registration (Tuition deposit payment)
Ⅱ-1. When: from December 28, 09:00 to December 30, 16:00 2020 (Korean local time)
Ⅱ-2. How:
     1) The tuition deposit invoice can be printed from http://oia.korea.ac.kr → Degree
        Program → Board → Notice.
     2) Tuition deposit payment method: Through any bank counter / ATM in Korea /
        wire transfer / telephone banking / Alipay, the deposit of KRW 423,000 must be
        paid during the registration period.       For payment of the remaining tuition fee,
        refer to “4) Payment of the remaining tuition.”
     3) Registration status: The registration status can be confirmed after the payment
        from http://oia.korea.ac.kr → Degree Program → Board → Notice.
     4) Payment of the remaining tuition: Freshman/transfer students who have been
         admitted to KU and paid the tuition deposit must print out the tuition invoice
         during February, 2021 (to be confirmed) on http://oia.korea.ac.kr to pay the
         remaining tuition within the registration period.

※ Please note that there may be an additional service charge for bank transfer. Students
  are responsible for paying any additional service charges. The amount of tuition on
  your tuition invoice does NOT include any service charges. You may call your local
  bank to ask if there would be any service charges, and how much it would cost. The
  name of the depositor does not have to be in the student’s name.

※ If you planning to make an international transfer, please submit your transaction receipt
  via email. (admission@korea.ac.kr)
※ If the tuition payment is not completed by the deadline, admission will automatically
  be withdrawn.

Ⅲ. On-campus Dormitory Registration and Self-quarantine application
  ※ Please check the separate file for details on dormitory and self-quarantine application
    guidelines.

Ⅳ. Certificate of Admission & Visa Issuance
Ⅳ-1. Certificate of Admission (CoA)
     1) The Certificate of Admission is an official document which is approved by the
        Immigration Office and issued for international students for the purpose of visa
        application.
     2) When to receive: December 28, 16:00 to December 31, 18:00 2020 (Korean local time)
     3) For those who have completed the payment will be able to download the CoA
        ONLY ONCE, and the CoA will be uploaded at 15:00 (KST) on the OIA website
        everyday for download during the payment registration period.
     4) How to receive: The CoA can be printed from http://oia.korea.ac.kr → Degree Program
        → Board → Notice.

Ⅳ-2. D-2 VISA Application for International Student
     1) International students must possess a valid visa whilst studying in Korea:
         D-2(Study Abroad), F-2 (Residential), F-4 (Overseas Koreans), F-5 (Permanent
         Residency), or any other form of a valid visa for education-purpose. If a student
         possess a visa other than D-2, it is mandatory to inquire the Immigration Office to
         confirm on the validity of one’s visa status for studying in Korea. If necessary,
         one must change the type of visa or receive a special approval for studying in
         Korea before the semester starts.
     2) How to apply for D-2 VISA
      ① Students who are residing in Korea must visit the Immigration Office to update
         one’s visa status that would allow one to study at an academic institution in
         Korea.

     ※ Student already staying in Korea with C type visa CAN NOT change their visa
        status to D-2 in Korea.
     ※ The D-2 visa application will be cancelled if one leaves Korea before the change
        of visa status is permitted. Students are able to leave Korea only after receiving
        a Residence Card from the Immigration Office.
     ※ When you enter Korea University from another university in Korea, you must
         report your school status to the Immigration Office.

     ② Students who are residing outside of Korea must visit the Korean embassy /
         consulate in the country of one’s residence to apply for the D-2 visa.
     ※ Please note that the certificates of graduation from high school/university/college
        may be required to submit for D-2 visa application, so please check in advance
        for the required documents for visa application with Korean embassy.
     ※ Required time and documents for D-2 visa issuance may be different depending
        on which country or region you are residing in. Please note that the visa
        issuance may take even longer due to the status of COVID-19 so make sure to
        contact the nearest Korean consulate or embassy for further details at the
        earliest possible date.
     ※ In order to get a visa, you are required to submit a self-quarantine agreement
        letter and a doctor’s note. Please find more specific information regarding this
        from the Korean embassy website of your country.

Ⅴ. Additional Documents Submission
Ⅴ-1. Apostille/Consular Authentication
   Students are required to provide the Apostille or Consular Authentication for all
   documents issued by overseas schools/institution and the documents must be
   submitted to the Office of International Affairs. No other type of authentication will
   be approved.

    ※ Those who fail to submit the Apostille/Consular Authentication are subject to their
      offer being withdrawn.

   2) Deadline: February 5, 2021
   - Those who cannot submit the documents by the deadline due to an inevitable
     circumstance must contact the Office of International Affairs in advance to seek for
     an approval of the extended deadline.
   3) Where to submit:

   5) Countries with Apostille Convention can be find from http://oia.korea.ac.kr →
      Degree Program → Board → Notice.

Ⅵ. Orientation for new students
   1) Dates: February, 2021 (TBC)
   2) More information on the orientation for new students will be emailed by Global
      Services Center (GSC, Tel. +82-2-3290-5173/5174) at a later date.
   3) According to the policy of the Ministry of Education caused by the change in the
      enforcement regulations of the National Health Insurance Act, all international
      students are required to pay the health insurance fee for international Students
      from Spring 2021. Further details on health insurance will be provided by the
      Global Services    Center.   However, the medical coverage the national health
      insurance may not be sufficient so students are strongly advised to acquire a
      private health insurance during your stay in Korea.

Ⅶ. Intensive Korean Program for New International Students
   1) Students who do not have the necessary Korean proficiency to understand major
      courses need to improve their language abilities through intensive training.
      Therefore, those who fit into this category are obliged to enroll in the intensive
      Korean Language Program. Students are informed via email before the start of the
      semester whether they are required to participate in the Program.
   2) Additional submission of proof of Korean language proficiency
      There may be exceptions for new international students who submit TOPIK, TOEFL,
      IELTS or a Certificate of Completion from KLC at KU(original copy) to the Institute
      for General Education by February 5, 2021.
