IAD
INTERNATIONAL ASPARAGUS DAYS
After the success of the 1st International Asparagus Days held in
December 2013 in Le Barp in GIronde, then the 2nd edition in October
2018 in Cesena, Italy, then the 3rd edition during the SIVAL tradeshow
in October 2019 in Angers...
The 4th edition of IAD will take place for the 1st time simultaneously
with Macfrut, the international tradeshow for the fruit and vegetable
industry, in Rimini, Italy from 7-9 September 2021.
International professional event that brings together the entire
asparagus industry.
The 2021 edition of IAD will focus on four areas:
1. An exhibition area that will host international companies specialized
in the sector
2. A conference area to discuss the main issues related to the asparagus
sector
3. Demonstration area for machinery, equipment and materials,
facilities, harvesting, packaging of asparagus
4. Visits to asparagus production and processing sites

"IAD Corner" stand

• 5pm -5:30pm: New techniques to anticipate and
respond to climate change

• 5:30-6pm: The varietal panorama in the world and
creation of experimental fields

Coviro is a cooperative founded in 1978 that
produces and markets certified seedlings. The
production concerns mainly strawberry plants and
asparagus plants (about 3,000,000).
The production of asparagus is concentrated mainly
in Emilia Romagna in the sandy soils of the Adriatic
coast.
The nursery of the asparagus
claws in vegetation The new asparagus seedlings in the spring of 2021
will give claws for the 2022 plantings; this will involve
16 varieties, 9 of which are intended for the
continental zone and 7 for the Mediterranean zone.
The seeds come from the world's leading producers
who select varieties for the production of green,
white and purple asparagus.

11:30 AM Visit to the farm Zanellati Davide Strada
Provinciale Cristina - Bosco Mesola (FE)
Mr. Zanellati is a young farmer who manages 11
hectares of mainly horticultural land whose
dominant crops are carrots, beans, beetroot, 2
hectares of early green asparagus and cereals
for rotation.
This producer markets its vegetables and
asparagus through the Cooperative Casa
Harvest in February 2021 of
asparagus Mesola, which as a whole manages about 70
planted in spring 2020 hectares of green asparagus.
Zanellati is the first farm in Italy to use a soil
heating system powered by electricity from the
public grid; the heating allows to anticipate the
harvest.
The first plantation of about 1 hectare was
planted in 2020. The varieties used are Magnus,
Verdus, Vitalim and Vittorio. The good results of
production and market (especially Vitalim)
Asparagus claws and cables of the have convinced the producer to carry out a
electric heating (April 2021) second plantation in 2021, on about 1 hectare.
All the technical elements of this type of
production will be presented to the
participants during the IAD visit.

3 PM Visit to the Visentini Mario Agricultural
Company
Strada Giralda Centrale n. 10 - Codigoro (FE)
The Visentini Mario Agricultural Company
manages several activities in the agricultural,
fruit, and vegetable sector.
This includes the cultivation of green
asparagus on an area of about 25 hectares,
close to the millenary Abbey of Pomposa. The
varieties used are: Hy Eros and Hy Giove
selected precisely for the typical environments
of Emilia Romagna, by Prof Agostino Falavigna.
The cultivation technique adopted by the
company is the traditional one of the Po Delta
territory able to supply shoots in quantity and
of excellent quality.
For a better respect of the environment and
the consumers' health, the cultivation
technique used is the integrated production.
The harvest is carried out by specialized
workers using electric facilitating machines.
