2015
ILSC offers several accommodation options to help meet a variety of student needs.
Further information can be obtained about any of the options by contacting
ILSC’s Student Accommodation Department by email at accommodation@ilsc.com.
Please note that there is a $220 nonrefundable Accommodation Registration Fee per person
for all of the programs listed, which is due in advance to confirm booking.
Alternative Accommodations booked for 30 days or more are not subject to tax; however, some
accommodations may charge the tax for the first month, and refund at the end of the first 30 days.

Canada Homestay, Roomstay and
Alternative Accommodations
Homestay Accommodation
Homestay accommodation is our most popular option. Homestay provides our students with the opportunity to learn English
by living with a Canadian family. The most rewarding aspect of the homestay option is that students, in addition to practicing
the language they came to study, have the opportunity to experience Canadian culture through music, television, food, etc.
while living with a Canadian family.
Full-board Accommodation
ILSC offers safe and welcoming homestay families, many of whom have been hosting ILSC students since our school began.
Full-board Homestay includes a private bedroom with three meals per day. Most of our homestay families are located
approximately 45–55 minutes by public transit from ILSC.
Half-board Homestay
The Half-board Homestay is for students who would like to have a little more independence and freedom in terms of their
everyday lunch. The Half-board Homestay allows the student to live with the family, just like regular homestay, but it only
includes 2 meals a day, breakfast and dinner. Snacks are available after dinner for the students. The students are responsible
for purchasing their own lunch every day.
Other than having no lunch provided in the Half-board Homestay, the details and benefits are identical to the Full-board option.

Canada Homestay, Roomstay and
Alternative Accommodations
Roomstay Accommodation
ILSC is one of the first schools to offer Roomstay Accommodation. Roomstay provides our students with the option of
“renting” a bedroom from a family. Meals are not included in the package, and students will be responsible for purchasing
all their own groceries, beverages, cooking supplies, (including seasonings, oil, dishwashing liquid, etc.) toiletries,
(including toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc.) Students will be placed with a homestay family and will have a private
bedroom. The homestay family will not cook for the students, but the student will have access to the kitchen to prepare
their own meals. In most cases, the student will be sharing the kitchen with the homestay family. Most Roomstay families
live approximately 45–55 minutes by public transit from ILSC.

Alternative Accommodation
ILSC's locations provide a variety of alternative accommodation options for students, that meet a range of budgets and
tastes. Depending on location, students may choose private or shared suites and/or rooms. Options may include furnished
apartments, hotels, hostels, residences, or suites in houses. Alternative accommodation will provide a room with bed(s),
desk, private or shared bathroom, and in some cases, use of internet.
NOTE:The Alternative Accommodations prices are subject to change without notice. Therefore, it is important to check with
ILSC’s Student Accommodation Department to confirm price and availability.
Booking Procedure
1. CHECK AVAILABILITY: Contact ILSC to find out if your chosen accommodation is available for your dates.
2. CONFIRM YOUR BOOKING: If the accommodation is available, confirm your booking with ILSC within 24 hours.
3. SEND PAYMENT: Send your accommodation payment to ILSC, including the non-refundable accommodation
registration fee, within the designated time:
a. Immediately if the booking is less than 6 weeks away from your check-in date OR
b. Within two weeks if the booking is more than 6 weeks away from your check-in date
4. RECEIVE YOUR RECEIPT: Once payment is received by ILSC, you will receive a receipt.

There are two locations in the city of Vancouver and two locations in the city of Burnaby. All locations are accessible by public
transportations and are 20–45 minutes commute time to ILSC. All rooms are furnished with a bed, desk and some storage

This is to be paid by the student by credit card (VISA,
MasterCard or American Express). The security deposit
will be refunded after the student’s departure, provided
the suite is left in the same condition as upon arrival.
The security deposit is nonrefundable if the reservation is
cancelled. The credit card used to pay the deposit must
belong to the person who is staying at the Lord Stanley
Suites.

A FEW REMINDERS ABOUT
ALTERNATIVE ACCOMMODATIONS

zz Room availability is not guaranteed.
zz Amenities may vary from hotel to hotel and from room to room.
zz Airport reception is not offered in the Alternative Accommodation Program. Students should arrange their
own transportation to and from the property.
zz Rates do not include taxes, incidentals and any other charges the student may incur.
zz The YWCA, Cascadia Hotel & Suites and Delta will invoice the room rates ONLY to ILSC; therefore payment
should be made at least three weeks in advance to their respective agent in order for ILSC to pay the YWCA,
Cascadia Hotel & Suites and Delta two weeks prior to check-in date.
zz Some properties may charge a booking fee and/or a deposit in addition to ILSC’s placement fee.
zz A valid card is required to guarantee and hold all bookings. A booking cannot be made unless the client’s
full credit card information is provided.
zz No refunds will be granted as each property’s cancellation policy will apply, and any cancellation fees
charged by the property are the responsibility of the student, not ILSC.
zz ILSC is not responsible for any change in booking and/or, cancellation policy changes of each property. ILSC
will strive to keep information up-to-date. However, all penalties will apply according to the property’s policy
in place at the time of cancellation/change.
zz ILSC accommodation registration fee is nonrefundable for any reason as this fee must be paid to the
