Laboratory Series VI: Zalika Azim. Join us in the sixth
event in the Laboratory Series VI, produced in
collaboration with R.A.C.E. Matters SLO. . Zalika
Azim (b.1990) is a New York based artist
conceptualizing her practice through
photography, installation, performance, text and
sound. Exploring the mechanisms of personal and
collective narratives, her work investigates the
ways in which memory, migration, movement and
the body are negotiated within the American
landscape. In considering how domestic
ephemera and language become charged with
intelligence beyond what is immediately apparent,
Azim’s totemic juxtapositions set out to exist in a
liminal state that mines spatial, temporal, and
ancestral knowledges. Join us for an artist talk on
December 17 at 5pm PST. Register HERE.

Timely Articles and Assistance
 We anticipate that for many families, behavior problems will be bubbling up in
the months ahead as children spend more time cooped up at home. While
some acting out may be inevitable, parents can learn to defuse frustration and
other outsized emotions to keep kids from escalating. And kids can learn skills for
managing these feelings on their own in the future.
 We are rounding up advice about why children typically act out and what
parents — and kids themselves — can do for a calmer, happier time all around.

With the recent arrival of freezing overnight
temperatures, ECHO has partnered with several
organizations to provide emergency shelter to
those facing homelessness this winter.

With a facility each in Paso Robles and
Atascadero, the two emergency shelters offer a
safe, warm place to sleep for the night. A hot
meal and outreach services from ECHO are
provided to guests.

The 40-bed Paso Robles facility is a partnership
between ECHO, People's Self Help Housing and
the Housing Authority of SLO County. Funding
for the shelters was provided by the State of
California. The 20-bed Atascadero facility
location is generously provided by Community
Church of Atascadero.

CALIFORNIA EVICTION MORATORIUM BILL,
AB 3088, SIGNED BY GOVERNOR NEWSOM
 Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law late Monday, August 31, 2020,
Assembly Bill 3088 granting renters who are financially affected by the
Covid-19 pandemic a reprieve from evictions through January 31, 2021.
 Under the new legislation, which goes into effect immediately, tenants
who pay at least 25% of their rent from September 1 through January 31
will be protected from eviction. However, those who fail to meet the
minimum rent payment could be removed beginning February 1.
 All back rent owed by the tenant from March 1 through August 31 of
this year would be converted to consumer debt and couldn’t be used
as grounds for eviction. To receive continued protection, a tenant
would have to pay at least 25% of their cumulative rent between
September 1 and January 31. The remaining balance would also
become consumer debt, which landlords could pursue in small claims
court starting March 1 of next year.

paid. (This applies to some low income housing and is great news!)
If you did not receive such a letter, you can request one from the
