Press Release (For immediate release: 4th October 2018) - Tokyo, Japan
Reed Exhibitions Japan and Fukui Optical Association will be holding Asia’s leading optical trade
fair, 31st INTERNATIONAL OPTICAL FAIR TOKYO (IOFT 2018) from 22nd to 24th of October, 2018 at
Tokyo Big Sight, Japan. More info: https://www.ioft.jp/en/
Continuing from previous years, the concept of IOFT 2018 is simple –
“Firm and best business platform in Japan and Asia”. The concept has not changed but yet the
show is expected conger up an even hotter edition. Expanding its size by 20% from the previous
edition a great range of eyewear and related products will be showcased at IOFT 2018 ready for
business trade. The exhibition halls are expected to be filled with 390 Exhibitors (50 Exhibitors more
than 2017) and 15,000 buyers and, to see an increasing number of international brands involved.
Below is the events held at IOFT 2018:
Opening Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
The show kicked off with an opening ribbon-cutting ceremony.
A total of 45 leaders from major retailers, wholesalers,
association members and buyers of the industry joined from
both Japan and overseas to show their support.

22nd Japan Eyewear Award 2019 Presentation Ceremony
22nd Japan Eyewear Award 2019 takes place
annually inside International Optical Fair Tokyo (IOFT).
It selects and honors the best new design eyewear to
be introduced in this fall and winter. It consists of 5
categories Men's Eyewear, Ladies' Eyewear, Kids
Eyewear, Sunglasses, Functions & Technologies, and
from each category, three winning products and a
Grand Prix product will be announced.

IOFT Reception Party & 31st Japan Best Dressed Eyes Awards
The reception party is where to share the latest information
and to encourage networking for the executive
professionals.
In the reception party, the Japan Best Dressed Eyes Awards
will be held awarding Japanese celebrities (including
prominent politicians, actor/actresses, models, comedians
and other high profile figures) with outstanding eyewear
fashion sense to raise the awareness and interest of
eyewear to the consumer level. The winners will reward with
many fashionable and quality eyewear from IOFT exhibitors.

5 Exhibiting Zones
All exhibitors will be dispersed across the exhibition hall, depending on the category the exhibitors
want to promote their products.
This year consists from the 5 zones named and themed as below;
◆ Fukui Zone- ”Made in Japan” products especially from Fukui.
Fukui prefecture is Japan’s major production area for eyewear.
◆ Designers Zone- Featuring Japan and international designers’ brands (tide＊) .
◆ Luxury Zone- An area for all kinds of luxury eyewear, including platinum, gold, and jewels.
◆ IOFT Boutique- Dedicated to the most avant- garde and expressive eyewear.
◆ General Zone- An area for eyewear accessories, testing equipment, lenses and frames.
＊"tide" is a special exhibiting area created inside IOFT, which is exclusively offered to stylish and
unique international eyewear designers.

Press Registration Procedures
● When you arrive, please come directly to the Press room.
● Collect your Press Badge and Arm Bands at the counter.
● Each press visitor will be asked to submit 2 business
cards each in exchange for the Press badge and Arm Band.
● Without the Press badge and Arm band the press visitor will not be able to carry out
press activities at the show.
● Please collect your Press Kit at the Press room. 9

Press badge:
* Your press badge is valid from Oct. 22-24, 2018 during the opening hours of the show
and it allows you to enter all shows and events held during the show period.
* You may keep your press badges for the entire duration of the show but please return
the arm bands back to the press room at the end of each show dates.
* Please wear your press badge at all times when you are within the exhibition hall and
event venues throughout the entire duration of the show.
Press arm bands:
* Ensure to wear your press arm bands if you will be carrying out any photography and
or filming.
To take part in the conference sessions:
* All sessions will be in Japanese.

Opening Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

The chance to see and meet key industry professionals of the Japanese and Asian optical
market! Witness them at the commemorative event celebrating the opening of the 31st IOFT
at the Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Dignitaries include Japanese and Asian chairmen
of optical associations, top executives of optical stores, importers, whole salers, mass retailers
etc.

22nd Japan Eyewear Award 2019 Presentation Ceremony

Want to find out who wins Grand Prix for the EOY Awards? EOY is a product design
competition to determine the trendiest eyewear for the coming year. Grand Prix for each
category (Men’s, Ladies’, Sunglasses & Sports Glasses, Kids Eyewear and Functions &
Technologies) will be announced during the ceremony.
If you miss the ceremony, come and have a look at the award-winning products displayed at
22nd Japan Eyewear Award 2019 exhibit gallery throughout the show period.
31st Japan Best Dressed Eyes Awards Presentation Ceremony
& IOFT VIP Reception Party

A reception party will be held on the first evening of IOFT. It is a great place to be acquainted
with both exhibitors and visitors of IOFT and get the latest insight into the market. Japan Best
Dressed Eyes Awards Presentation Ceremony will also be held at the reception party. Japan
Best Dressed Eyes Award is awarded to Japanese celebrities (including prominent politicians,
actress, comedian, model and other high-profile figures) with outstanding eyewear fashion
sense. This popular award is covered by all major TV networks, newspaper and magazines in
Japan.
Please note:
IOFT will be specially reserving a seat for you at the VIP tables. Our staff will escort you
to your seats so please arrive at the Press Room at 17:45.
An official invitation letter with the details will be sent to you separately.
The IOFT Int’l Designers
"tide" is a special exhibiting area created inside IOFT, which is exclusively
offered to stylish and unique international eyewear designers.
International designers from various countries such as Italy, France,
Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, UK and etc. gather at IOFT
2018. You will see the latest original eyeglasses from around the world
just here in Tokyo.
