It's time for an upgrade to our donor
tracking system at Sophia's Kitchen!
While we are converting to the new
system, you might notice that checks are
slower at being deposited. We hope to have any delays
and kinks worked out quickly.
Part of the conversion will include the "platform" for
online giving. Our current system has stopped
communicating effectively, which has created a great
deal more office work. When we change to the new
platform, you will need to re enter any saved information.
If your donations have been automatically deducted
monthly for Sophia's Kitchen, any of the funds or any of

breathe, seek, and love.
The world will need us again when we leave the pine
grove. It will all be waiting for us, beckoning for our
attention. But we will have prayed and will have
marveled at the silence and the beauty of goodness. We
can go back, ready, and eager to listen, to help, to heal,
to cry, to embrace, and attend to all that is asked of us.
But, having let go of the distractions in that deserted
place we will have a renewed sense of purpose. We will
know better Who it is we serve and what we are meant to
do. It will all be clearer now that we have been Divinely
touched and refreshed.

“Vengan conmigo a un lugar solitario, para que descansen un poco”,
En el Evangelio del día de hoy, luego de que los apóstoles hayan hecho su misión Jesús les dice:
“Vengan conmigo a un lugar solitario, para que descansen un poco”, y sigue diciendo el
Evangelio: porque eran tantos que iban y venían que ni los dejaban comer. El Señor en el día de
hoy ve el cansancio de los apóstoles luego de la misión y los invita a retirarse, a estar un tiempo
a solas, a salir del ruido. Es interesante porque en conjunto con este pedido que hoy le hace a
los apóstoles, el mismo Señor lo hace a veces para encontrarse con su Padre, es interesante
pero lo que parece no necesario para Dios, si lo es en este momento: “un momento de
descanso”, esto puede sonar muy exigente para los momentos actuales. En un mundo en donde solo corremos para todas partes
y no nos detenemos a pensar o reflexionar sobre las acciones de nuestra vida y lo que nos sucede. No es nuestra culpa, lo se. Es
el mismo ritmo de vida que nos exige dar más y más día a día y parece que si no lo hacemos no somos productivos, es la misma
razón por la que muchas veces no se cuidan los extremos de la sociedad. Tengo la sensación que los ancianos no sirven, eso es
por las políticas actuales de los estados. Entonces, el estado ofrece lo que se conoce como Eutanasia para los ancianos y gente
con ciertas discapacidades. Muchos ven a esto como una opción para dejar de sufrir, yo, veo aquí un plan macabro en donde se
juega a ser Dios desde todos los aspectos decidiendo cuando alguien debe morir. La pregunta es: ¿por qué esto es cada vez más
fuerte?, y porque se descubre este sentido de “utilidad” de nuestra gente. Si sos útil para este sistema, muy bueno; si ya no sos
útil para este sistema, te tenemos que descartar. Este ritma de la sociedad es la que no nos da respiro, creemos que podemos
solucionar todo desde un ángulo consumista de la sociedad. Hoy Jesús muestra otra cara, es necesario “frenar”, “parar”, ir más
haya de lo que el mundo muestra como única opción. “Vamos a un lugar para descansar”. Recuerdo mi seminario, todos los años
tuvimos un par se semanas de retiro, era un tiempo en donde no hablamos más que con Jesús y solo con El. El tiempo de retiro
era como fortalecedor, nos daba energía, me daba energía, como sacerdote también, aunque a veces ahogado por las
obligaciones, lo descuido, cuando puedo, busco un tiempo de soledad, de estar solo, de estar solo con Jesús para volver a
experimentar el llamado del Señor y lo que El está haciendo en mi vida. Es necesario frenar, solo el frenar podrá mostrarnos
nuestro propio yo. El descansar será reparador y debo buscar este tiempo, debemos asumir que no somos Dios y que
necesitamos mucho de los tiempos reparadores para que nos devuelvan la paz a nuestras vidas. Vamos a aclarar algunos puntos:
¿Qué es un retiro espiritual? La palabra retiro nos indica un retraimiento, recogimiento o claustro. De manera que un retiro
espiritual es un tiempo o momento que se dedica para buscar y estar en conexión con Dios. ¿Cómo hacer un retiro espiritual
cristiano? La forma de hacer este tipo de retiro es sencilla, solo basta con despojarse de todo para disponerse a buscar a Dios, de
la misma forma que un niño busca el abrazo amoroso y tierno de un padre. Lo primero es disponer de un tiempo desahogado
para dedicarlo solo a la contemplación, adoración y alabanza a Dios. Importante buscar un sitio lo más aislado posible, donde nos
podamos desconectar de toda persona. Así como de preocupaciones, afanes, labores, en fin, es un tiempo para consagrarlo solo
a la intimidad con Dios. La primera parte del tiempo de retiro se debe dedicar a la alabanza y la adoración a Dios. Bien sea por
medio de cánticos, lectura de salmos o simplemente declarando con tu voz la grandeza y majestuosidad de nuestro Señor y Dios.
Luego se pasa a la oración contemplativa, no con el fin de hacer peticiones al Padre. Sino más bien de entrar en su reposo,
descansar en Él, rendirnos a sus pies, entregando todas nuestras cargas. Si en la oración contemplativa se siente la necesidad de
confesar errores cometidos, se puede hacer, la confesión es muy sanadora en el tiempo de retiro y además nos da la gracia
habitual para poder ver con más claridad lo que Jesús nos está pidiendo. Sea de confianza a la luz de Jesucristo, buscando el
perdón de nuestro Padre Celestial. En el tiempo de contemplación se puede leer la palabra de Dios, a través de ella el señor nos
habla y nos guía a través de su Espíritu. Para finalizar dedicamos nuevamente un tiempo de alabanza y de agradecimiento a Dios
por este momento de intima comunión.
En muy pocos pasos tenemos que “apartarnos a descansar a un lugar tranquilo”. Para todos nosotros es necesario y
debemos hacerlo para vivir “un alto” en el camino de la vida. Esto nos permite encontrarnos con nosotros mismos, sanar, elevar
el espíritu y encontrar nuestra vocación, lo que Dios pensó y soñó para nosotros desde siempre. Creo este deberá ser nuestro
desafío en un mundo acelerado como en el que vivimos. Dios nos llama a vivir en el silencio con El: “Por tanto, he aquí, la
seduciré, la llevaré al desierto, y le hablaré al corazón”. Os 2; 14. Debo buscar estos momentos de silencio, de intimidad con El y
solo vivir de una forma plena lo que el me ofrece. Será la única forma de vivir en la voluntad de Dios. Rezo por ti para que el
