October 2, 2021 Thank you to all who participated in our premiere
Spoonful fundraiser! It was a smashing success! This fun
event showed everyone what wonderful cooks our
volunteers truly are while raising about $10,000 to
support our mission! We still have funds coming in, so
we'll share our final numbers in November!
Bowls are still available for sale for $25 each. Be sure to
check out our Facebook page or stop in to shop for your
favorite. They make great Christmas presents!
Bishop Lou was gracious enough to paint a couple of
bowls during the Fired Up evenings. A silent auction of
his artwork brought in $260!
We learned a lot, we cooked a lot and we had so much
fun! We can't wait until we do it all again next year! Be
sure to join us then!

Querida familia, en nuestra vida espiritual estamos frente a desafíos que no sabemos como
enfrentar porque en nuestra frágil naturaleza, muchas veces estamos expuestos a
tentaciones que nos apartan del amor de Dios una y otra vez por más que nos demos cuenta
del amor que Dios nos tiene. Es la fragilidad que no nos da esa “libertad” de salir al
encuentro de El con integridad en nuestras vidas. Y no es que nosotros no querramos,
solamente es que se nos hace difícil, escuchemos la respuesta del joven de hoy: Entonces él
le contestó: “Maestro, todo eso lo he cumplido desde muy joven’’. Jesús lo miró con amor y
le dijo: “Sólo una cosa te falta: Ve y vende lo que tienes, da el dinero a los pobres y así tendrás un tesoro en los cielos. Pero al oír
estas palabras, el hombre se entristeció y se fue apesadumbrado, porque tenía muchos bienes. Dice que el joven al escuchar esto
se fue entristecido, el Evangelio no dice si el joven realmente volvió luego de vender todo, tampoco está relatado esto en alguno
de los otros Evangelios. Es difícil saber que sucedió con el joven, solo sabemos que se retiro entristecido, pero no sabemos más.
Entonces, podemos tener varias hipótesis y entre ellas, “la del joven que nunca volvió”, y ¿por qué no volvió?, porque no podía a
causa de todas las cosas del mundo que lo ataban. El evangelio dice que tenía muchas riquezas, pero la pregunta es: ¿solo cosas
o tenía atado su corazón a personas también?.. Podemos entender la riqueza, en este sentido, con corazones atados que no
quieren soltar lo que nos aparta del amor de Dios. ¿está mal tener riquezas?, ¿está mal crear vínculos de amistad y relaciones?,
no, en absoluto, el problema es cuanto todo esto nos aparta del amor de Dios. Es lo que le pasó al joven rico, el joven no era malo
y podemos ver que es un joven muy bueno. El problema radica en que el no quiere desprenderse de la riqueza y estamos frente a
un problema grande para la vida y el discernimiento de este joven. Ahora, esta es nuestra dificultad, no estamos dispuestos a
soltar, cuando atamos el corazón a las cosas del mundo no queremos cambiarlas por las de Dios y a veces queremos ambas. No
está mal, repito, tener estas cosas, el problema es cuando no puedo desprenderme. Pero, te haré una pregunta. Si tu haces la
opción por lo material: ¿sabes que cuando mueras no tendrás el camión de mudanza detrás de tu cajón fúnebre? -palabras del
Papa Francisco- ... Nunca veras un camión de mudanzas detrás de un carro fúnebre, ¿por qué? porque las riquezas se quedan,
porque nos vamos con las manos vacías, lo único que nos llevamos es lo que hallamos guardado en el banco del cielo. Como dice
Jesús: Y tendrás un tesoro en cielo donde la polilla no lo acaba. Tenemos que entender que verdaderamente, lo que tiene valor en
esta vida, es el bien que hacemos por los demás, el amor que brindamos a nuestros seres queridos, la ayuda que damos al
necesitado, eso si que nos los llevamos, porque esas son riquezas que vamos guardando para el tesoro del cielo. Muchas
personas se afanan tanto en esta vida por acumular riquezas, que muchas veces no disfrutan, y así se pasan la vida, descuidando
lo importante: La familia, los amigos, Dios. que pena ver a personas que son tan pobres que los único que tienen es dinero. Medita
estas palabras y recuerda: Nunca veras un camión de mudanzas detrás de un carro fúnebre, o un ATUD CON BOLSILLOS, por el
simple hecho que fuera de este mundo, no necesitaremos nada de eso.

bueno sino sólo Dios. Ya sabes los mandamientos: No matarás, no cometerás adulterio, no robarás, no levantarás falso
testimonio, no cometerás fraudes, honrarás a tu padre y a tu madre”.

me”. Pero al oír estas palabras, el hombre se entristeció y se fue apesadumbrado, porque tenía muchos bienes.
Jesús, mirando a su alrededor, dijo entonces a sus discípulos: “¡Qué difícil les va a ser a los ricos entrar en el Reino de
Dios!” Los discípulos quedaron sorprendidos ante estas palabras; pero Jesús insistió: “Hijitos, ¡qué difícil es para los que
confían en las riquezas, entrar en el Reino de Dios! Más fácil le es a un camello pasar por el ojo de una aguja, que a un rico
entrar en el Reino de Dios”.
Ellos se asombraron todavía más y comentaban entre sí: “Entonces, ¿quién puede salvarse?” Jesús, mirándolos fijamente,
les dijo: “Es imposible para los hombres, mas no para Dios. Para Dios todo es posible”.

Jesús también es fundamental para la
forma en que nosotros, sus obispos,
tratamos de pastorear esta diócesis.

"Caliz pergrino por las vocaciones del Corazón de
Peoria"
..._ ¿Qué es esto?_, El Cáliz peregrino el corazón de
Peoria será una gracia para las familias que lo
tenga en su casa y para todas las vocaciones de
especial consagración (Sacerdotes, Religiosos,
Consagrados, Misioneros)
_¿Qué es un cáliz?_, en donde se consagra la
Precisa Sangre de Jesús y además estará
acompañado de una Patena en donde se consagra
el preciso Cuerpo de Jesús, ambos estarán dentro
de una caja de vidrio para su protección.
_¿Cómo será esto?_, cada domingo en la Misa de
12:15pm, en Santa María Catedral, la familia que
haya llevado el Cáliz la semana anterior le
entregara el Cáliz a la familia que lo llevará esa
semana y yo los bendecire en Misa. El cáliz estará
una semana en cada casa. Será un momento de
mucha gracia y oración para cada familia y
especialmente por las vocaciones. Necesitamos
santos sacerdotes y consagrados entregados a la
Misión.

1- El cáliz es algo sagrado, nunca lo saques de la
caja en donde está protegido.
2. En tu casa ponlo en un lugar adecuado. Una
mesita con un mantel, la imagen de Nuestro Señor
Y Señora y una vela para encenderla cada vez que
recen frente a él!
3. Trata de rezar en familia con el material que te
dimos! Lo ideal es que una vez al día te tomes un
momento y reces frente a El pidiendo por: “El
aumento y perseverancia de las vocaciones y la
Santificación de la Vida Consagrada”.
4. Una vez que lo entregues no dejes de rezar por
las vocaciones de especial consagración y tus
sacerdotes. Hay muchos consagrados que te
necesitan!
