JUNE 2021 EDITION - Wesley United Methodist Church
Happy Pride Month! I’m excited to share with you the plans we have to celebrate.
Again, this year, the Aurora Pride Parade will be a Pride Drive. There will be several
stops along the drive through Aurora on June 13th. Wesley Church will be one of the
stops!
We have partnered with a couple of community organizations to feature mini-murals
created by local artists working with Aurora youth. The event will also include Saint
Astro, a local band who will be performing a concert in the parking lot. The event is
Sunday, June 13th from 11:30 am to 2 pm.
We are looking for volunteers and donations. We need volunteers to stand out along
Galena to help highlight that we are a stop for the pride drive. There will be a tent set
up to provide cover. We also need donations to help cover the cost of materials and
the event. Please contact the church office if you can help.
Wesley United Methodist Church voted to be a reconciling congregation on October
28th, 2012. We welcome, affirm and advocate for the full inclusion of our LGBTQ2IA+
siblings. Since 2012, we have worked to shift our intentions to reality. We celebrate
the gifts and leadership that our queer and trans siblings bring to worship, mission
and ministry at Wesley and around the globe. Because of their contributions to the
church and to the broader society we are able to experience more fully God’s pres-
ence, justice and love.
The Stonewall Riots remind us that the work is never easy and that it must continue
and persist. We know that many of our siblings still suffer from discrimination, hate
and violence. We cannot rest until our systems of oppression and injustice are dis-
mantled and transformed.
I am committed to live in radical solidarity. This means listening to the experiences of
our LGBTQ2IA+ siblings, believing that their stories are true and that they need to be
heard, making a commitment to stand up for justice everywhere and to insist that
they not be excluded from our collective tables of fellowship and decision making.
I am proud to be your pastor, for the courage you have to stand up for what is right
and your persistence to do the necessary work. Thank you!

Garden Club News
The gardens at the main entrance off of the parking lot are looking great, thanks to some
loving care from members and friends! Stop by and check them out! The rose garden is
awash in beautiful roses! Now that we are in the midst of growing and blooming season,
the gardens will need continuous care to remain healthy and beautiful. Please consider
spending some time weeding and watering, as needed, throughout the growing season.
If you plan to stop by, let Jenny Pawlowski know so she can give you the key for the out-
door water faucet, as needed. There should be a hose up against the outside wall. Please
let me know if anything is damaged so I can replace it. If you have any questions about
the gardens, you can call Meredith Lindgren at 630-788-6911, or call the office at 630-
896-1033 (you can leave a message if no one is in the office). You can also contact me at

Let’s Go Adult Fellowship
Let’s Go is a social group open to all adult members and friends of Wesley. Due to the
pandemic, we have not been meeting live since March 2020. We had two Zoom par-
ties: a Christmas party in December 2020 and a St. Patrick’s Day party in March 2021.
A good time was had by all, but we are looking forward to meeting in person again
soon! We are planning a fall live event and details will be published later in the sum-
mer. We are all looking forward to a Joyous Celebration! Please contact Meredith
Lindgren if you are interested, 630-788-6911 or psalmmom418@gmail.com.

NDY (Not Dead Yet) Group
Remember this group is NOT just for Wesley members. All are welcome! We have
resumed meeting outdoors in Wesley’s church yard for
lunch on the last Friday of the month at 12pm. Our next
meeting is Friday, June 25th at Noon. Connect with Wendy
Evans for details at:
kaileysboppy@gmail.com.

                    Mug Club
Enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation. This is a social group of
men with lots to talk about and too much time on our hands. We
have not had too many solutions, but we’ve had lots of fellow-
ship. We invite you to join us! For more details call Herb at 630-
                    264-2892.

Welcome Back Wesley Golfers!
Wesley golfers got together for the first time in 2021. As you can see, everyone had
a good time. Fellowship after golf was at Carol Stoffel's home. Good food and drink
were had by all. I would like to thank Carol for hosting the fellowship. We are all
looking forward to next month.
If you would like to join us contact Ralph Breazeale at 630-897-6657.

See you on the course,

Ralph
