STAGE 4 ROADBOOK KERRY GROUP RÁS MUMHAN 2018
Schedule
Monday 2nd April.
Sign On:
Sign-On in Killorglin Sports & Leisure Centre from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30a.m.
Race Start:
Riders will depart the Killorglin Sports and Leisure Centre at 10:00a.m. and proceed to Killorglin
Town Centre.
All riders will finish on the same lap as the stage winner. Lapped riders will have the appropriate
time penalty added to their times.
Please note:
1. Riders who are three (3) minutes or more down on the race leaders will not be permitted, in
normal circumstances, on to the finishing circuit. Such riders will be withdrawn by a race
Commissaire at the filling station 100m before Killorglin Bridge. Transponders will be removed
from bikes here, riders’ details will be noted and the riders will be credited as finishing the race
but will have a correction factor added to their time to reflect the situation.
2. Any rider falling three (3) or more minutes behind the race leaders on the finishing circuit will be
removed from the race at the Killorglin Sports and Leisure Centre. Transponders will be removed

Team Car Parking
Car parking for all vehicles is available at Killorglin Community College on a first come first served basis. A
paper copy of the results from stage 3 will be available for each team manager at sign-on. As soon as is
practicable team managers should move their team car into the parc fermé for cavalcade vehicles. This is
located at the FEXCO car park about 200m nearer to Killorglin. It will close at 9:50am. Cavalcade
numbers will be issued to team managers at the entrance. Once in the parc fermé you may only leave by
surrendering your cavalcade numbers. Vehicles may only join the race cavalcade from the parc fermé

Race results:
Race results will be posted onwww.rasmumhan.com and www.killorglincycling.com as soon as they
have been computed and any issues resolved. A limited number of paper copies of the results will
be available at prize presentation after the race
Prize Presentation:
Refreshments etc will be provided at St Michaels Church of Ireland Parish Centre, Iveragh Road, Killorglin
from 1:00p.m. Race Radios, race numbers and timing transponders are to be returned at St. Michaels
Church of Ireland Parish Centre.
Riders and team managers are reminded of the contents of Article 15 of the race regulations that refer to
prize presentation.

Pre-Race Location of:

3. FEXCO car park: Parc fermé for team cars opens at 9:15am and closes at 9:50am. Cavalcade
numbers will be issued on entry to the parking. No exit, except to race start, without
surrendering cavalcade numbers. Team cars may only join the cavalcade from here.
Team car deviation: At the Bianconi Inn turn right and continue on N70. There is a large public car park on the left. Note for the finishing laps only a small number of team vehicles are permitted to follow the riders. The Chief Commissaire will make the decision on which cars are permitted on to the circuit and convey that information to team managers at the meeting on Friday 14th and over the race radio on the morning of the stage.

Finishing Circuit Stage 4 The total length of the circuit is about 4.1km. The maximum elevation is about 35m and the lowest point is at about 5m. The roads vary in width but are always more than 4.5m wide. There is a pinch point on the road approx 250m after the finish line with a pedestrian barrier at the edge of the footpath.
Final 500m of Stage 4 There is a flat run in to the last corner. The last corner, at the Bianconi Inn is a 90° left hand turn. (See photo’s below) The finish line is 120m approx from the last corner at the top of the hill in the town centre. The gradient is not uniform but averages out at about 1:9.
Kerry Group Rás Mumhan Stage 4, Killorglin and Beaufort Monday 2nd April 2018. Route in brief: Start in the Square Killorglin at 10:00am. Turn right at the Bianconi Inn Corner direction Beaufort. Continue to Beaufort Village. At the end of the village turn left and continue until the T junction after the Bridge. Turn Left direction Killorglin on N72. At roundabout, take 1st exit on N72 direction and repeat the first lap of the course twice more. At roundabout on the 3rd lap take 1st exit over the bridge and continue up the hill. Keep left in the Square and turn left on Langford Street. At Ardmoniel X continue straight ahead on the minor road. Continue to Gormon’s X. At t-junction, turn left. Continue to T-junction with Beaufort road. Turn left direction Killorglin. At the Bianconi Inn, turn left and continue up the hill to the square. Repeat eight more times. 113.5 112.2 Finish 13:31 12:56 12:31Specific issues of concern on Stage 4 The final corner on the finishing circuit is a 90° left hand turn. There is a traffic control installation in place on the right hand side of the road just around the corner. This constricts the roadway to about 5m. There will be barriers on this. (Photo’s 1 + 2) The road surface to the finish line is sound but very bumpy. There some manhole covers that have sunk into the road. There is a pinch point on the road in Langford Street about 250m after the finish line. There is a pedestrian control barrier on the edge of the footpath.
