 bearing piles were specified
and 26 helical piles with 114 mm
 shafts and 400 mm helices
 were installed to 12 m depth ,
 achieving 18 far

 The helical piles were installed
 in the winter months. Without
 curing, heating or hoarding, the
 build could start sooner.

More and more residential, commercial, industrial, utility, institutional and agricultural projects are being supported on
helical piles installed by VersaPile, Inc. Helical piles are serving as a budget friendly alternative to precast and timber piles. If
the soils are problematic for cast-in-place, helical piles can be installed to till. If the desired soils layer is deeper than
predicted, helical piles are easily lengthened. VersaPile, Inc. is equipped to install helical piles to more than 600 kN | 135 kips
ULS, satisfying the design criteria for a wide range of possible projects. VersaPile's equipment is nimble and can access
nearly any project site while also having the weight and downforce required for helical piles to penetrate soft-till.

        Throughout the process, Indigenous
     Services Canada engineering staff
     learned much as well. Opportunities
     to increase participation and learning
were encouraged, and roles were re-
     examined. From concept, to design,
     to construction, the Youth Summit
     projects provided an opportunity to
     employ more than an engineering
skillset; people were able to become
     educators and mentors as well.
        Some lessons learned included the
     importance of letting people safely
run with the process. While mistakes
     were inevitable, the experience and
     knowledge gained were priceless.
